normally the recipe calls for the flavoring, heavy whipping cream and 1/2 a can of condensed milk.

what if I substitute the condensed milk with sugar free syrup, maple flavored, will that work? or is there something in the condensed milk that I need for ice cream?

5 stars!

Use Xylitol, it is a natural green plant and trees derived sugar 'alcohol' instead of other sugar substitutes because it is far less dangerous than onthers and tastes nearly exactly like sugar. But be very careful not to let your pets eat any of it, it carshes their endochrine system due to a sugar overload and can kill them but not humans, it is 100% safe.

I use xylitol based syrup on all my pancakes and waffles and in the rare occasion that I make ice cream.

Carbs are bad, fats are good. The fat in the cream is actually good for you, but if you add sugar, it becomes lethal, as do most carbs + sugar combinations.

Xylitol is delicious and does not spike blood sugar levels like real sugar does. So does maltitol, but it and other sugar alcohols have more calories.

Try it.

You need the milk. check out this page to make your own condensed milk, sweeten it with whatever you want.

SUPER EASY BERRY ICE CREAM

Pour frozen strawberries (sliced)or blueberries into your bowl. If making more than one serving, use individual bowls.

Sweeten with whatever you want, I use honey or organic sugar. If you use honey, make sure to heat it in a spot of 1/2 and 1/2 so it doesn't freeze. When I use sugar, I use about 2 tbsp.

Cover with 1/2 + 1/2

Put into the fridge for 20 minutes as the 1/2 + 1/2 will freeze while the berries thaw.

Stir and enjoy!

oh that's interesting! I wonder can I substitute real milk with cashew milk? I want this very low carb and milk has sugar in it too.

I just know the store bought low carb sugar free ice cream is expensive and nasty. I'd rather try to make my own and get that creamy texture. I expect most of the texture to come from the heavy whipping cream after whipping it up for a few minutes and didn't think I would need milk for that.

You have to order it online (look up the cheapest price and find wholesalers all over the place), otherwise, you'll pay a hefty price for it at a retailer. They hike up the price like 200%

I made an entire chocolate cake out of nothing but eggs, non-gluten flour (which I also ordered online, lots of companies) and Xylitol.

NO ONE could believe it wasn't a regular, sugary, creamy chocolate cake, it was DIET chocolate cake that tasted like real chocolate cake because of the Xylitol.

But be careful with the pets, don't give them anything you make with Xylitol. Sugar is bad enough and can also do a lot of damage to pets and even kill them but Xylitol is like a concentration of sugar that they really cannot handle.

There are also several Xylitol desserts cook/chefs blogs online, if you look it up.

Good luck.

No your idea would not work well

But here is what I use

Your welcome

1½ cups (355 ml) heavy whipping cream.
3 tablespoons unsalted butter.
3 tablespoons Swerve Confectioners.
¼ teaspoon stevia glycerite.
1 pinch salt.
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract.

Add the cream, butter, Swerve Confectioners, stevia glycerite, and salt to a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Bring to a boil and then turn the heat down and simmer until thickened, about 12 to 15 minutes, whisking occasionally.

Remove from the heat and whisk in the vanilla.

Cool to room temperature (it will thicken more as it cools), and then store it covered in the fridge

This is low carb keto condensed milk ... will last 7-10 days in fridge with good cover ... my fridge is around 35 degrees

Net carbs are about 1.5 per 2 tablespoons

Many homemade ice cream recipes recommend topping off the batch with a little vodka before putting it in the freezer. Effect is to greatly increase the ice cream's creamy texture. Don't know if vodka is allowed on your diet or if there's a substitute.

wow, I would love to try that cake! I don't have any pets but thanks for the heads up just in case I do get some visitors.

I was just at the library looking for low carb deserts and didn't see anything. I just feel nostaligic this time of year with the actual book but I guess I'll have to use the internet. I think I have used xylitol in the past but labled as a different brand and it was a powdered sugar, I put it on strawberries and couldn't believe how delicious it was. I think it was swerve brand. It's erythritol, is that similar?

Since you asked...

I suggest canned coconut milk (not the water)for evaporated milk substitute..which is THICK and SWEETENED (probably HF Corn Syrup too!)

I use this in VEGAN pumpkin pies for holidays with my Vegans.

Stevia is great sugarfree for sweetener ( I grow and dehydrate my own)

Heavy whipping cream - you will need the thickness and if it's runny - add a little gelatin packet from KNOX (unless you are VEGAN)

Thickening for VEGANS = Then add whipped chia seeds 1 teasp seeds to 1 TBSP water and whisk with a fork until frothy.

So STEVIA, whipping cream, canned coconut milk...good to go into freezer - will be like gelato unless you add the gelatin -clear unflavored packets.

Sorry, I digress but I cook at holidays for GLUTEN FREE (celiac) and VEGANS and Vegetarians and some meat eaters all. I have many special diet tips.

KETO is my new challenge as my husband is hard-core this year. Learning Keto -had MOCK-A-RONI and cheese last night.

I do have vodka but I use it for cleaning windows. I would feel like I am putting poison inside if I did that lol. Once I caught my husband in the cleaning chemical cabinet and he was dipping in the vodka, I told him to stop drinking my cleaning supplies.
