and do not teach religion as a fact, but as a theory. Never should they say 'islam is for peace' because that is attemtping to convey a fact. Instead they should say 'some believers say islam is of peace.'

And word it like that for every idea you want to convey about that religion

and it should all be very short lessons. Not entire classes, not more than a single test. Just a short lived lesson

I've not heard a thing that Betty Devoss has accomplished(good) as head of the dept of education. All the Leftist teachers were up in arms at her appointment, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

I don't have a problem with them teaching some background information about the religion, no more than I would about other religions, but when it gets to this:

Historical insight into other religions, and why people from different religions have often times clashed, and may well still be at odds, i.e. Christians and Jews, I think is helpful for all to learn, including the parents who often times have little or no knowledge of the deep and sometimes violent histories of their own religions. As long as the history lessons are age-appropriate, and the parents have immediate access to what is being taught in the classrooms, I think knowledge is a good thing, provided the source of the materials are well vetted for accuracy, not just some gov. or religious drivel.

Absolutely. No one should have religion forced upon them, especially Islam.


However when my daughter was in first and second grade they learned about different religions and holiday celebrations. I was ok with that because they covered pretty much everything but only to the extent of Christmas or whatever. And it was 12 or 13 years ago before everyone was offended over everything, or at least not to the degree it is today.

Otherwise, religion needs to stay out of school, unless it is a private school, for instance Catholic school.

Depends on the Context. If it is a general religious study course that happens to include islam along with all of the other religions, then the school is doing it's rightful duty in informing your children about the world.

If on the other hand it's a full on year round muslim indoctrination class, then obviously such things do no belong in school. Religion belongs in your home. No religion should have an indoctrination class for children, as that is basically.. satanic.

The Jesuits have only been around since the 16th century and Islam is much older than that.

It doesn't depend on any context. And religious studies, are not social studies. We were not raised with the kind of text books, published by Saudi that were floating around the middle school in Canada for my children.

This country was based on the Judah Christian beliefs, it come from straight for God and his Son Yeshua. It never was any other religion for this country. No one can force this, you have to want this not forced.
