A driver hired to give a man a ride from St. Louis County into St. Louis city was carjacked by the passenger early Tuesday, police say.
St. Louis police say the driver brought a man from the county to a McDonald's, 1919 South Jefferson Avenue.
Once they arrived at the McDonald's, at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, the customer pointed a gun at the driver. The driver jumped out of the car and ran into the restaurant, which is open 24 hours, for help. The driver, a 48-year-old man, wasn't injured.
The customer drove off in the victim's car. Police found the car a little later, abandoned in the 2200 block of California Avenue, about five or six blocks from the restaurant.
The robber is described as a black man his his late 20s with a thin build, long dreadlocks and tattoos on his hands, face and neck. He was wearing a dark jacket and skinny-fit camouflage pants.
Police wouldn't say which company employed the driver.
