Nostalgia Throw Back!!! What do you miss about the ol' days?

I'm a millennial myself so I don't have much frame of reference but it seems that the planet has really gone downhill in the past two decades or so. And yes Wesley really needed to shut up

Calm and enjoyable days, going down to the creek catching fish with my hand, swimming in the pond, climbing tree to the top looking out at the view from up there. I miss the joy from everyone, people talking, laughing and singing, yes, those were the days. Some have never done this, never experienced this, so they can only read this, and wonder if the person is speaking the truth.

It was the truth of those days, for everyone, rich, poor and in between, everyone talked to everyone else, had fun, enjoyed life a lot different than now.

There was softball teams from local Church, all day singing's and picnics, school plays and talent contests, we had fun. We did not play games on the computer, we played game against others, teams. There were many games that was fun.

One of my favorites was laying out side on a quilt or blanket watching the moon and stars above, the one we called the big dipper and the little dipper, north star and all the stars in between.

Enjoying community and family, your extended family, grand ma and Grand pa, aunt and uncle and cousins, yes life has change now people put their grandma and grandpas somewhere they are not seen, so they can not tell their grand children about what happened and what it was like in their days, history by mouth, about this president and other dictators, science all those little things, the dances the songs, so many things, yes it was destroyed by design. I guess with a little want to on everyone's parts, we can return to what was good in everyone's life. Maybe all well fall, it will then fix itself.

Thankfully we do have a resurgence of 80's music and games.

New Retro Wave they call it. 80's electronic mainly but still true to the times.

Sold my ps4. fuck all this online shit. Dusted off my old saga games so me and the family can all play together.

I miss:

- being able to talk to people in real life

- being able to hold conversations with people with up to amazing ease

- a much more polite society

- a society that valued family and friends over the mass insanity that is so prevalent today

- women who aren't batcrap crazy and who are out to destroy mens' lives. I know this is the Feminists fault.

- A society that knew that racism is a terrible, terrible thing to do to others.

That's all I can think as of this post.

I miss the days when the only way for anyone to contact you was calling your home phone. Once you jumped in the car, you were truly disconnected from everyone. The world could be ending and you wouldn't find out until you went home or when you arrived to your destination.

Loved going to old town got the best deep dish pizza there....but that was in the late 60s early 70s

I miss the sound of my dads whistle at dinner time.
If dad was t home to whistle then we relied on the local fire whistle to call us home or moms loudest voice lol
I miss Christmas Eve and Christmas mornings between the ages of 5 and 12.
I miss my grandma and spending holidays with all the great women of my family.
I miss the days when my biological father would come and pick me up.
I miss my grandpa and his Italian baked goods on the holidays.
I miss my childhood in the 80s.
I miss family being together- we are all so far apart now. Grandparents are all dead except one grandma- god bless her.
I miss going to the movies as a kid- I saw E.T. In the theatre :)
I miss Gatorade gum!! Why did they ever stop making it :(:::
I miss going to the lake with my cousins

Retro gaming is coming back fast and hard, Noble Savage. This is happening because of all the online crap, nearly every game that is developed these days is almost identical garbage with up to incremental improvements, and the microtransactions is rabidly killing the entire video game industry.

These days you don't buy an entire video game for $60+. You pay for the installer.exe then you get online only to be forced by a Day One patch that is 40+GBs in size then a day or so later another 40+GB patch is released. Then there are the paywalls for features you literally paid for on-disc, but you're being double, triple charged, or worse charged for access to what you initially paid for.

Exactly! You were all alone with your thoughts. You could think clearly. These days most people haven't a clue what they're thinking about till what the masses tell them what to think then they're happy now that the Collective told them what to think.

So many people blast their music into their ears, and/or do literally whatever it takes so they don't hear their own thoughts. Why? Because they might actually think something that goes against their Group Think nonsense, and that is forbidden by Group Think bylaws.

i miss.....garbage. remember when you could throw away ANYTHING into "the garbage"? glass bottles, aluminum cans, cardboard or whatever it was went into ONE receptacle and that worked for everyone. but not anymore...NOW you live in fear of getting a ticket for mixing one type of "recyclable" [what used to be "garbage"] with another, and it's all become a bad joke.

you know what i think? that people started feeling empty inside and then became obsessed with rinsing out their empty containers as some kind of cleansing ritual, to show their "inspectors" how clean those were. there are always psychological undercurrents with these things, unmet needs that are the true underpinnings.

I miss the days before social media made everyone hate each other.

Public civility. Lack of rarely, very, very rarely, ever hearing the word, Bitch (at least in mixed company). You never heard the word, Cunt. And not Fukk, either. People were more respectful of one another, stranger or no. People had other words for "Shit." Vocabularies were sharper, and kinder.

Just about everything. The world today sucks. If I had to list only one thing I'd say I miss the innocence I had when I was young and happy, before life began to f**k with me.

Cracker Jacks with real metal toy car surprises inside.

Slinkies and Etch-a-Sketch and paint by numbers art kits.

Charles Chips in a can.

The Good Humor Man on summer nights.

Going out on Halloween night with packs of kids TOTALLY unsupervised.

Catching fireflies in a jar til way past bedtime.

Drive in movies.

Volkswagen Beetle - the original.

Monopoly games that went on and on for a whole week.

Having a play in your garage with costumes & curtains and selling tickets to all the neighborhood kids for 3 cents.

Keeping tadpoles in a bucket and waiting til they turned into frogs.

Being in charge of emptying ashtrays at your parents parties.

Coke floats.

Collecting Esso station glass ware.

Tricking out your bike with clothes-pinned baseball cards in the spokes.
