Rationalists of the enlightenment argued against slavery for violating natural rights. The same natural rights the Church philosophised just prior to the writing of the Magna Carta.

You do know this was spelled out in an earlier post including the changed philosophy about natural laws.I typed this when describing how the Magna Carta came about. Maybe the Church was ahead of its time.
