This is a bad and dangerous diet if you have any hint of diabetes or blood sugar issues.
My wife falls in that category and she's required by her doctor to eat numerous small meals/snacks throughout the day. Otherwise she'll get dizzy or faint. Years ago she was overweight but since switching to a super healthy diet with smaller portions (and doing lots of walking) she's back to her old self.
We in the US are eating bigger and bigger portions which are being pushed by the food manufacturers and fast food places. Our fridges are overstuffed with unnecessary food.
20 years ago a typical muffin was about 1.5 oz and 210 calories. Now it's 4+ oz and over 700 calories. A cheeseburger was around 300 calories. Now it's at least 800 calories. Some McDonalds and Burger King burgers are over 1200 calories.
There are plenty of articles about how portion sizes have become ridiculously huge in this country.
