Quoting: keybored The horrific scenes were captured by Butte County Deputy Aaron Parmley who on November 8 came to Paradise searching for four nurses who needed help fleeing the advancing wrath of nature. After suffering a car breakdown, Parmley found himself on foot amid heavy smoke, making it extremely difficult to breathe. Doubting his odds of making it out of Paradise alive, the deputy turned on his body-borne camera to record what the man thought would be the last minutes of his life. That is what it looks like all day long. You stand in the heat and embers and run a chainsaw or use a digging tool to construct a fireline. I did not perceive that anyone in that video was at risk for their life as long as they stayed on the road. Obviously scary for those who have never experienced those situations before .... but as somebody said above, they should have remained in the large parking lot and they would have been totally safe. |

Long Sleeves. Full length pants. Cotton is not perfect but its OK. Stay dry. Please don't soak yourself with water. Steam heat will burn far worse than dry heat. People in sandals doing this are idiots. Trivia; A T-shirt becomes a breathing apparatus when pulled up over nose and mouth. |

What you don't see after the tree fell and the dad wanted to get out of the car and move it (yeah, right) was that the kid put it in reverse and hauled ass backwards, driving as fast 40mph, on the dirt road. They managed to get to a lake where some people out on a boat came and rescued them. After the rescue, the shore they were on exploded in fire.
