Re: GRILL CHEESSE N TOMATO SAMMMICH KIND OF NIGHT W/BLACK BEAN SOUP.......ITS RAINING
Morning peeps!

I am heading out deer hunting in a few hours. Season started yesterday, but I don't hunt on the Sabbath, so, today, this Sunday morning is the earliest I can go.

I enjoyed home cooked hamburgers, milkshakes and fries yesterday, with family.

I Hope to have some venison by the end of the week.

Fishing Thursday was enjoyable, I spent the whole day on a local lake with a friend, caught a few fish and chilled.

I am off now, I need to get ready to hunt.

Getting my gear together now. I plan on heading out in about an hour or so, so I can be settled before first light.

I have 30 min walk in the dark to do first, which is kinda spooky in the woods alone. My hunting buddy won't be here until about 9am, which is about the time most deer bed down for the day, until 5pm when they get active again.

Wish me luck!

Good luck! I hope you get one. Last year, one of my buddies brought home a deer.He made grilled venison burgers for the whole family. Yum!!!

Brisket is so yummy. It's what I always get when we got to a BBQ.

Mr has always wanted to try to make a brisket. They're so expensive though. I'm afraid I'll screw it up!

I'm about to start frying chicken for tonight's dinner. I had asked my son how I should make the chicken. He gives me this little boy look and asks if it is too much work for me to fry it. "I haven't had YOUR fried chicken in forever Mom".

I fell for it. lmao

I'm going to need some help while I'm standing in the kitchen frying enough chicken for 6 people. bonghit

BTW, Smoking it with apple wood.

https://imgur.com/a/rn7joD9

 Quoting: SWOOPSTER

Where do you get that wood from? I tried to buy some at Walmart but it said for gas grills I was like gas grills have no flavor. I still like the charcoal smoke but want to try some of that wood.
 Quoting: chasity

I get it from our apple trees when we trim them. There are also a couple of old apple orchards around here that have lots of dead branches.

You can buy the bags of wood chips, but they don't last as long as the small logs. If I have to use wood chips, I soak them for at least an half hour in water first.
 Quoting: SWOOPSTER

So it's real apple wood from apple trees? Ha, I'm so dense I thought it was like apple flavored wood! LOL

I would rather use a log just need to find some apple trees. Does crab apple wood work too?

Triggered me to eat an apple now. Honeycrisp is my favorite. What's your favorite and what kind do you have in the orchard?
 Quoting: chasity

We have Honeycrisp, crab-apple, and Midwest crab-apple.
The old orchard is actually crab-apples by an old homestead farm house.
Any type of apple wood works for smoking.
Sometimes I like to throw a little cherry wood in there too, really adds to, and sharpens the flavor.

If there are any tree trimmers close to you, give them a call and see if you could get some from them.

I usually use my small brinkman, or my electric smoker, but I think the flavor from the offset briquet smoker is unbeatable.

I love fried chicken.

Yeah briskets are expensive, glad that I don't have to buy it from the store.
Gonna be butchering a beef next month and making some good smoking cuts, brisket, prime rib, and some rib racks.

Louis, has Aetna contacted you for an in home visit? I think it's kinda weird the insurance companies are sending people to the home and not the doctors office? They called to see my dad and check out his medicines and they couldn't change his address and never showed up. I wonder if this is some sneaky way to raise insurance rates or cut people off if something isn't healthy in the household? Would you let the medical insurance company come inside your house? I've never heard of this and I even questioned why are they doing this and they said it's a new service because of Covid and he can ask questions and I was like he usually just calls with questions.

IDK I just think this was kinda fishy.

Wow!

My daughter & granddaughter went to Cumberland Island today and had to wear the masks on the ferry. I wonder if they had to wear them all the time they were there. It s Federal park.

I got beef on the brain after seeing the afternoon posts. So, I'm having some more roast beef, havarti, & mushrooms on grilled yeast roll. I heated up some leftovers zucchini to go with while Mr had roasted asparagus.

We saw the funniest meme the other day. There was someone wearing 2 masks and one was over the top lip and the other was on the lower lip and he was eating! It looked so funny! I would totally do that if I had to eat in public.

I've always wanted to try poutine but it looks kinda gross, gravy and cottage cheese?????

Thank you swoopster I appreciate the pep talk.

For me the frustration was walking 25 miles a week 3 years ago heck I was even cutting my lawn which is a 5 Mile Walk in itself now today I'm ashamed we went to the grocery store after taking trash to the landfill and I had to ride the Electric Gimp cart, the pain was too much to be able to walk.

The great folks here at GLP at least keep me distracted and less annoying to my wife I hope. But at least we got stuff done we did a trash run to the landfill and I think I did most of the putting in the trash well there, but we both did it. My Mrs loaded the truck all by herself at home and she assisted as I unloaded it.

I'm not sure if dinner will be an Italian sandwich on Mediterranean bread or if I will be motivated enough to make fried rice as I still have orange chicken left that I can put on it.

And then just when you start getting caught up on bills everything conspires against you. I want to check email and I get a message that my phone is obsolete and can't be used it's only 3 years old. That's frustrating too.

Edits to fix typos from voice typing the previous on my POS phone while riding home.

Good morning! Are you Seventh Day Adventist? Do you follow a particular religion? I think they don't work on Friday after sunset until sunrise Sunday??? I'm orthodox but we don't follow it strict, for us a Sabbath is a holy day and there are a fuckton of those every week lol. I have a cousin that married a woman that did not do any housework on any Sabbath and her house was piled to the ceiling with dirty clothes because of all the holy days during the week. Everyone in the family thought she was just lazy but it's really a thing for people to take 5 days off a week LOL.

I would love to see some of your cooked venison! I heard people make jerky with that. That's a lot of meat, do you share it? Do you butcher it yourself or take it to a butcher? I don't think I've ever eaten any and if I did was I very young and don't remember. I do know my dad brought one home from the side of the road after being hit by a car so I'm sure I've tried it.

Have a nice hunt!
 Quoting: chasity

Thank you!

I am not 7th day Adventist. I do keep Saturday Sabbath though, and always have..

I do everything myself with my deer. Kill, gut, butcher, skin and process. I make jerky also.

I did get my deer this morning at 11am. rockon

A nice 4x5 buck!

I will need to see how much meat I have after I let it hang a day or so. It is beginning to freeze here, so it's plenty cold and needs to to hang at least a day.

I could have taken a doe, but he was the first one I saw this morning. My shot was not as clean as I would have liked, but I took it anyways, because I didn't want to be out hunting all season.

He took off down the hill and I waited about 15 min before following his path. When I saw blood, hair and bone, I knew I had him in the bag.

He had ran down the hill to the road, but I wasn't sure where at first.

I heard a truck come down the road, stop and then continue.

I was still trying to track him and had already went to the road and back up hill, I was having trouble locating his trail after the blood, because it had just finished raining.

The guy stopped and fired a shot, sounded like a 22, then came into sight above him and I watched him leave and at first, I thought he took my kill, but he didn't. He was just letting me know where it was. I whistled at him, but I guess he didn't hear me as he climbed in his truck and left.

The creek made it easy to gut and clean, but I am in not shape to keep doing this. Every muscle in my body was locked up.... I am beat up....

My friend never showed up.

I think this might be the last year I go hunting. I am a wreck and had to have family help with skinning it.

Here is a pic.

A few years ago a man pulled up at the corner gas station with a deer in the truck bed. It had run out in front of his truck and he hit it. Not wanting it to go to waste, into his truck bed it went.

It's been forty years since I last hunted.

Most people live life on a path set for them, too afraid to explore any other

But once in a while people like you come along who knock down all the obstacles we put in your way

People who realize free will is a gift you'll never know how to use until you fight for it

I think that's the real plan

dang

I was fortunate to get one today. I thank the Lord I did!

I watched him thrash a tree. Didn't see him but saw that tree shaking with a vengeance.

I thought I lost him after that, but managed to catch him down my sights.

I will have to process the meat to see what is good. I am sure there is some I will need to discard due to blood shot.

This hunt was on my own property, even then it was almost too much for me. heh.

I actually came back to the house and put another layer on. Also found my gloves, which I misplaced and went back out.

That was very nice of him letting you know where it was.

It may have even been Game Department. May never know..... But yes, the guy seemed to be trying to draw my attention.

I actually had the kill shot in the end.

He was laying in the creek. It's where he ended up after the guy in the truck pushed him there. He was still alive when I got to him and I finished him with a shot to the head, to keep him from running again.

Sorry, if I am so graphic. Just like attention to detail.

No need to be sorry.

I am a detail person, too detailed and drive my coworkers and boss crazy.

In seventeen years though I have learned to not send an email without reading it an hour later before sending, to edit out the 'too much info' that they always contain.

I guess if I eat tonight it will be a sammich as I was just lectured that my oriental cooking is disgusting and smelly 'because it is Oriental'. 'Just let a man make his dinner for crying out loud.

Most people live life on a path set for them, too afraid to explore any other

But once in a while people like you come along who knock down all the obstacles we put in your way

People who realize free will is a gift you'll never know how to use until you fight for it

I think that's the real plan
