I buy a chunk of parm about 4" cube. Wrap it in paraffin paper/not parchment then aluminum foil. Stored for 8 months no mold.
 Quoting: pool

Mold usually only hurts soft cheeses... eew, but true. Remember to wipe your blade with vinegar if cleanup is needed. I can’t stand the taste of cheese wrapped in plastic.
 Quoting: mona lizard

My observation with hard cheeses like sharp cheddar that mold on the outside is they only seem to mold about an 1/8 inch into them if left too long.

I just cut the outside 1/4" off all sides and proceed to use it, usually I find a recipe I may use the remaining block in so as not to waste it or have the mold progress again.

Nibbling on Vinta again, noticed a name "tocopherol" in the ingredients. It's a wtf moment. But has a good outcome.

[link to www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov (secure)]

The experimental data provide strong evidence in support of the anti-cancer activities of δ-tocopherol,γ-tocopherol and the natural tocopherol mixture rich in γ-tocopherol, γ-TmT, over α-tocopherol. Such outcomes emphasize the need for detailed investigation into the cancer preventive activities of different forms of tocopherols to provide a strong rationale for intervention studies in the future.

Been staring at a glass jar of that bone broth for some serotonin down-tick. Just can't bring myself to it. I did grab a chunk of this and am happy that it will invigorate my gut bacteria. Happy belly, happy body. Taste delicious too!! [link to forevercheese.com (secure)]

I never realized the plastic gave it a taste. That's probably better for you, too!

We store so many things in plastic now, it's hard to imagine how people once managed without it.

We finally went on a walk today. It's either been raining or we've had dr appts taking up our time. I haven't been sleeping well, so I was exhausted after.

I ended up making Hamburger Helper cheesy Italian shells & frozen peas on the side. We haven't had that in yrs. Apparently, they changed the recipe and I had to fix it up with some parmesan & italian blend shredded. wtf

I'll get a good nap, at least. Food coma incoming...

Has anyone monitored their PH level with those strip thing's? I've been looking for a good brand and every product on amazon has some negative remark. I was looking for my brand of alkaline88 water and got side-tacked.

Back to food, I'm cooking, in an oval stew pot, a package of uncured [ite-free] bacon and just added the last piece of marinated lamb leg to the pot. omg, paleo woman today.
Cooked the lamb for 16 minutes, sliced it thinly and lay back into pot, julienned celery and leek and am steaming it on top of the lamb-bacon.

I'm stuck, don't have any potatoes. Should I go with arborio or risotto rice?

Added a tsp of minced truffles and whole ground dijon.

Buy one of the cheaper ones...From my 25 years of growing I would suggest that you use it, and then keep the tip in distilled water rather then just putting the lid back on. Screw the lid. You can use vinegar to test your pen now and then, vinegar is 2 or 3 but if you test the vinegar first with your pen and then only use that bit of vinegar to check so you know what that vinegar is on the ph scale.

Prior to the surgery my hands swelled up like giant mickey mouse cartoon hands and the pain kept me awake in tears most of the night. The doc did surgery three days after he saw me on the worst of the two and about ten days later on the other.

For me there was very little pain after the surgery, plus he prescribed Mepergan Fortis (Demerol plus Fenergan) at the time for my pain (there are better versions of both available now) so you could have hit me with a ball bat and I wouldn't have felt it hurt.

Plus as pool wrote, you've a support team here!

I didn't think it would be too bad, but it's nice to know someone else that had it done. My hands are not anything like yours was, ouch! My left hand is almost completely numb now so that will be the first hand. I can't carry any dishes or drinks in that hand. Sometimes it just lets go & I don't even notice until I hear it hit the floor.

Mold usually only hurts soft cheeses... eew, but true. Remember to wipe your blade with vinegar if cleanup is needed. I can’t stand the taste of cheese wrapped in plastic.
 Quoting: mona lizard

I never realized the plastic gave it a taste. That's probably better for you, too!

We store so many things in plastic now, it's hard to imagine how people once managed without it.

We finally went on a walk today. It's either been raining or we've had dr appts taking up our time. I haven't been sleeping well, so I was exhausted after.

I ended up making Hamburger Helper cheesy Italian shells & frozen peas on the side. We haven't had that in yrs. Apparently, they changed the recipe and I had to fix it up with some parmesan & italian blend shredded. wtf

Betty Crocker must have been bonghit

I still store it in a ziplock but wrap it in a waxy pad paper first.
I hate plastic but use it ~ whore that I am. afro I know people who don’t though...much respect but that’s a lifestyle. I only notice the taste if something’s been wrapped tight with it and left to sit. Now beer in cans, is another story. hf

I bought beer in cans for the first time in years Sunday.

It felt kinda weird opening and pouring them.
 Quoting: Louis in Richmond

I know, right? There are some great beers showing up in cans now, too.
I probably wouldn’t notice if I poured it into glass...I’m such a brat.
I buy seltzer in a can...what’s my problem? lol

Working on a “ShockTop” as I type. beer2 You know the rest. afro

Only do one hand / wrist at a time--you need to be able to wipe your butt!! Seriously, my doctor told me this and I'm glad he did.

I'm only doing the worst hand & elbow this time. I bet he will want to do the other not too long after. I was shocked he could get me in that fast - in a week.

So does it hurt after? I know it's just a little cut, but maybe what about the inside?
 Quoting: Paranoiaaaaa

Thanks. hf

I used to do piecework for a craftsman and got paid big bucks, but after a few years left my hands numb. I could barely knit. I was terrified and quit.
I’m good now. No wonder he farmed out his work...

He didn't say anything about therapy. I kind of hope not. I wasn't impressed with them when I went for my back. They want you to go a couple times a week. It gets expensive.I will do whatever he says though. we'll see.

I made fried chicken & spaghetti. After, I made it, I don't even want the chicken. So here I sit with a huge pile of angel hair pasta with my homemade sauce with parmesan & mozzarella shreds mixed in. tounge
