Cooked the balance of the scallops. No harm, onions, tomatoes, ginger and cognac from soaked raisons, which are stored from about 15 years of marinade I keep stashed in the cabinet bellows. And my favorite greek olive oil....that's basil on top. One lemon

Hello Foodie's. OK, I do not recall if it was Mona Happy Birthday by the way, or Paranoia that mentioned they lived in a house 140 years old as second owners and no ghosts?

That description just got my over active imagination going.

So, I have to ask, is the home a two story and are there two sets of stairs leading to the second story?

Then I have to ask, if there are two sets of stairs, is one of them possibly a staircase that was from another home and reconstructed in that home? I know sometimes builders will do that, use materials or structures from places tore out or remodeled and reconstruct them in new places?

I will wait for confirmation of any of this what was in my mind after reading that days ago now. peace

It was me. Check this out ~ The stairs are presently located right inside the side door that leads into my kitchen and we know from records the kitchen was added on around 1920 and the house was originally built w/o one.
I found the space where the original stairs led up from the first floor when I took out the wall to wall and refinished the wood floors upstairs.

So, while I only have one set of stairs...It is the second.

The earliest official record we found was from 1875 but word in the hood it was around 1860 when it was built.

I had an amazing salad for a late lunch at a new local just past my favorite.
Worked another long day...
They called it their seasonal Italian. Mixed greens, tiny grapes tomatoes, pistachios, slivers of salami, roast chickens, a few grated hard cheeses, and the most amazing creamy pesto vinaigrette they make in house.
Oh, and homemade buttery garlic croutons.

My last home had two set of stairs--one for family, one for domestic staff.

It was as haunted as any home I ever lived in, possibly the most haunted home I ever lived in.

Unseen things calling peoples names, a room so cold you saw your breath in it even in summer, the sound of children running and playing on hardwood floors, but all the floors were carpeted.

It becomes normal when that is all you have known your entire life. That doesn't make it any less out of the ordinary.

My old farm (just down the road from me) had a ghost that you could feel going up and down the stairs and then often times you could smell her. We classified the smell as 'old lady perfume'...hmmm...there is uniqueness everywhere we look.

They should turn the inside of the house into a garden, by removing the roof and adding dirt and flowers and trees. hf

Baked a broccoli and brie quiche; then baked a small peach and raisin cake. Both are yummy. hf

Ooh...Share some more info on that cake. I’m envisioning a semi-healthy breakfast version in my near future. Fresh peaches are starting to be plentiful around here.

Yes, the peaches are getting ripe here as well! Only fruit aside from apples I really eat. Well, the blackberries are getting ripe and I do wander down the road and a few here and there but that is about it.

So, I grabbed and cored, peeled and sliced the peaches in the fridge, kinda getting old. Sauteed them with a touch of avocado oil, tarragon and the raisins soaked in cognac, splash of OJ. Added grated nutmeg and cinnamon. After they cooled a bit I added, while still in the pot 3 teaspoons baking powder, 2 C unbleached wheat flour, 1 C bleached, 1 egg and ~1C half and half. (left over form the quiche recipe). Buttered the 4" h round white ceramic baking dish, poured in the batter and baked for ~45 min @ 350f. Of course I made up the recipe, I was jerking around in the kitchen. I mean who puts tarragon in a cake?

Good luck, and check your ingredients to a real recipe. :lol1:
