I will break the gravy silence. I will explain how I would have done the pies so it is simple to see and make and not scary! rof

It will work love! flower

Can you tell us your pie crust secrets too? I know I'm working with a funky flour and I've always been intimated by pastry because it took my mom all day to make it. Or maybe it just felt like all day waiting to eat it! lol

I rolled it out and it turned into a snowflake! I don't know if I should be ashamed or proud!

[link to imgur.com (secure)]

I cut it in a circle and put the extra parts around the dish.

[link to imgur.com (secure)]

filled it up with filling and topped with another rolled out crust that I rolled more carefully from each tiny angle I turned it.

[link to imgur.com (secure)]

what do I do with the leftover filling? I have a quarter of it left.
If heaven had a scent it would smell like a bird.

I can tell you how to make gravies! hf and I will and you will never go back to a package. I get headaches from processed foods so hand made gravy it is. Many different ways to make that stuff! :)
 Quoting: rewind

We're in the midst of Gravy Masters! I can't make gravy. I'm sooooo jealous!!

:fuck yeah:
 Quoting: pool

super easy.. hugs I will have to come back and post the two or three ways I know how? Mostly two? blink
 Quoting: rewind

'Morning everyone.

I'm all ears on this too as I so much would rather make my own vs. buying those single-use and very cost inefficient packets to make gravy with.

My apologies in advance for my glpmellons gif last night.

I was tired, goofy, and very much feeling the effects of the relaxant of choice so it was to me hilarious at the time.
 Quoting: Louis in Richmond

Wow! rof You guys are really putting the pressure on!

ok, I will deliver and I will deliver today as I see there is some urgency here? hugs

so far so good. I even got a nibble and the crust taste like breakfast biscuit. IDK if they are the same in Canada, this is what our breakfast biscuits look like [link to images-gmi-pmc.edge-generalmills.com (secure)]

I haven't cut into it yet but the crust taste awesome! All I did was mix Carbquick ( [link to www.tovaindustries.com] ) 3 tablespoons butter for every 2 cups carbquick, I doubled it for 2 crusts. Then I added water slowly until I got the dough consistency. I'v tried other recipes with the carbquick and the biscuits are the only thing that come out tasting right with this flour.

I think a biscuit dough is way better than a standard dough for savory pie. I might stick with it now that I know it's totally doable.

I think it's called a chicken pot biscuit.

Mr Chasity doesn't care for my cooking much. My dad appreciates it more because I cook stuff he and I are familiar with. Mr. Chasity wants to eat American food, burgers, pizza and he likes sandwiches on the panini grill. He's just so sick of the slav stuff, he was dreaming of the foods in America but was too poor to eat it. He still eat my beans, he loves those because they taste like the beans he ate in the army. He'll probably eat this pie because it's different but he's on the road now and won't be home for a couple days. He likes my soups too.

secret pie crust recipe.. flower

Here is my grandmother recipe on this. after cutting the lard in dry ingredients in a dish that has a lid cos after you ad the 7Up, you cover, shake, and refrigerate. that is for this amount of crust which is one nine inch pie crust.
Chill in the fridge 30 minutes to an hour before using or even over night is ok.

1 c all purpose flour, dash of salt

1/2 c lard

1/4 c cold 7-up

bake at 350 on a cookie sheet for golden brown bottom crust.

Here it is for 5 crusts at a time:

5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 pound lard
1 can (12 ounce size) 7-UP soda
directions
Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add the lard and cut in with a pastry blender until coarse crumbs form.

While mixing, add the 7-UP. Mix until a dough forms.

Divide the dough into 5 balls. Roll out each ball into a crust and use as desired. The dough can be refrigerated or frozen. ;)

……………………….

and again for two crusts 1 top and bottom pie crust

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 lb lard
3/4 cup carbonated lemon lime beverage such as 7-up

In a bowl, combine salt and flour.
Cut in lard using a pastry cutter until you see pea-sized globs.
Slowly pour in the 7-UP, and stir to combine.
Split dough in half, form into rounds, and wrap in plastic wrap. The dough should form a ball, but it should still be sort of wet. Wrap it up, and refrigerate overnight before using.

if you are baking a pie for filling be sure to poke a few fork hole in it.

Gravy Lovers Unite. I shall be available to walk anyone through the methods I mention here. peace

For turkey or chicken baked and you pull the juices off the bottom of the pan and cook the giblets, you can thicken with cornstarch for a nice flavorful gravy. Stir a few tbsp. of cornstarch into some water or milk(1/2 c or so), depends on if you want creamy or brown, then stir into simmering pan of cut up giblets and roaster drippings. stir til thickened.

Fried chicken. removed from preferably cast iron skillet.. add a few(4 or 5, depending on amount) tablespoons of flour to pan and stir in with the fixings in the pan from having fried the chicken. Medium heat on low side not high side, ad milk a qt or so stirring until thickened. ad salt and pepper to taste and a spoon of chicken stock if you have it, it is not needed however. :)

If you have pan fried some steaks, chuck, strip etc, something that needs gravy.. again, stir flour into pan after removing the meat. Stir in about a qt of hot water stirring until thickened. :)

If you have a big pot of chicken pot pie fixings you can shake a few tbsp. flour into 1/2 cup of milk or so, stir into pot stirring until thicken some. will thicken more as you bake and cool.

If it is beef pot pie fixings, you can do the same with water, or milk and ad a spoon of beef stock.

okay, I think I have covered the gravy methods? I keep thinking of one more way I have not mentioned? So, hopeful I will not be back for an edit.

see what I mean?
sausage gravy.. use fixings from having browned the sausage and bacon :)
stir in a couple tablespoons of flour in skillet. stir in milk stirring til thickened. salt and pepper to taste. put over a warm buttermilk biscuit with a fried egg now and get a coffee. Lord this stuff makes me hungry! rof

Re: GRILL CHEESSE N TOMATO SAMMMICH KIND OF NIGHT W/BLACK BEAN SOUP.......ITS RAINING

Lord this stuff makes me hungry! rof

We are having our tomato soup (Progresso Reduced sodium Creamy Tomato & Basil) with grilled cheese with White American & colby jack on white. MR cuts it with a pizza cutter into strips for easy dippin'.

Re: GRILL CHEESSE N TOMATO SAMMMICH KIND OF NIGHT W/BLACK BEAN SOUP.......ITS RAINING
God is great, after looking at one house in the country I stopped by a random lakeside bar for a glass of vino and sunset gaze. There was the drama culprit's boyfriend at the bar. A federal agent hit on me, while I was chatting w the pregnant bartender, so I told him my latest story. I ultimately asked, should I confront my enemies or walk away? He said always confront thine splinter. So, I spoke to the culprit's boyfriend and said, it's either I apologize to your gf for something I said in the month of June about shutting up and sitting down or Rock Star is perpetually verbally abusing me. Culprit's bf smiled and said Rock Star had been soliciting everyone's opinion about me, when I wasn't at the gigs.

So fuck it, I'm single! Everyone's on call block.

Hey, I finished the giant bag of steamed dumplin's and watched War of the Worlds again.

Well, good for you. I quite enjoy only turning my phone on now and then, collecting texts and only using it in the city for work. I have hours with it now. Like we would back in the day before cellphones. Dinner time...not answering...after dinner unless it rang twice in a row...meh maybe pick up. And then no one had phones all day long anyhow. 'Beautiful nuisances'...masterfully carved chains really.

Truth! So many are slaves to their phones now.

Pool.. Good for you! It really sounds like Rock Star acts as if he's still in high school. You don't need all the drama! hugs

Hey sweetie! hi Sorry I bugged out when you were still healing from the carpal tunnel surgery...how are those new hands working for you?
 Quoting: mona lizard

They are much better! That terrible numbness is gone. I still get a little pain around the scar on one, but it's not bad. I know they work better because I was able to scoop the guts out of 3 squashes & stir the pizza crust all y myself. I haven't been able to do those things for a long time.

I'm just dealing with my back still. the second shot I go from the new dr worked great!! - for about 6 weeks. I'm going back this week for another shot. Hopefully, it will last longer this time. you can only get 3 shots a year.

I based it on my memory of the one you posted this summer and took a bit of liberty with the beard length... I’m totally diggin’ the longer windswept hair in the new pic. Maybe a few ornery curls catching some snow.

Pen, ink and watercolor. This could be my Christmas card. xo
