I try not to bring certain things here. But stock your freezers...fill your pantry's I'm going through the IG report on another thread and a coup was deflected but America is a sleeping dragon and it will awaken and when it does. When it does....normality might go away for a bit. I'm not typing this for no reason. I'm typing this because I love everyone and basic prepping, while Satan writhes and lashes out, might be a good idea and it is the Holy-Days for many so get extra.

Okay dammit. I'll cook my corned beef on my own.

Foodie thread and no one in it has ever prepared corned beef. wall

I'm gonna go post in CosmicGypsys thread instead. butt
 Quoting: Louis in Richmond

hey fuck off i asked you a few months about corned beef and you said you don't eat it lol
 Quoting: Q33

I never said that!!!

I have cooked it for at least two decades by boiling.

I just wanted a new recipe!!

I'm slow cooking it for about sixteen hours.
 Quoting: Louis in Richmond

I don't eat corned beef but Mr loves it. Good luck, I hope it turns out awesome!!
 Quoting: Paranoiaaaaa

It turned out wonderfully!!

It's in the 'fridge cooling so I may more easily cut it, else it would shred.

No offence meant, but this song reminds me of someone here...

Maybe I'm just prejudiced; I've known her for close to twenty years.

About eight or nine years ago she mentioned it was going to be snowing and said the temp would be in the twenties.

I looked at her and said you just gave the temp in fahrenheit.

She look surprised and said I had no idea--I've finally become American!

I laughed.

Norn Iron Cooking: The Chippy Pastie.

Here is a very rough & ready recipe for making Northern Irish fish & chip shop Pasties. These are not to be confused with the Cornish pastie & is an entirely different dish.

Combine cooked sausage meat and mashed potatoes. More meat than potatoes also finely chopped onion in a bowl. I would estimate a 60% to 40% ratio meat to potato.

Add a dash (enough to just season) of nutmeg, same of Mace, allspice, coriander, ground ginger, ground cloves & Lots of Pepper.

Mix all the ingredients together and form patties then dust them with flour. Freeze them and when they are frozen they will be ready to cook.

The batter is comprised of Self Raising flour and soda water that forms a nice soft batter. Dip the frozen patties into the batter & with a spatula carefully lower them into preheated deep fat and fry them until they are golden brown.

Serve them with a few homemade chips & some bread and butter. Garnish with salt, vinegar, red or brown sauce or not depending on your own taste.

Hope you enjoy these & have a go at making them for yourself. Thanks for taking the time to read & I will try to bring more local recipes & ideas for meals from my neck of the woods in the very near future.

peace & cheers
Dagga! Dagga! Dagga!

Aren't the Cornish pasties the ones with beef juice injected into them before cooking? They look delicious. The patties sound intriguing, I'd like to try them sometime.

My corned beef turned out perfectly. about fourteen hours in the slow cooker with 1/3 cup water and two beef bullion cubes. I'm letting it chill in the fridge now for easier slicing.

Mt Rushmore is beautiful, so is Devils' Tower. When I visited the Devil's Tower last, we pulled of the road for a 'family' selfie, looked down and found a sterling silver cuff bracelet. Greatest memorabilia imo.

Is it the same like deli corned beef? I bought some yesterday too, I think you planted that thought in my head as well.

You eat it cold like deli meat? Seems like a hassle to make. How many pounds? I buy 2 pounds and that will last us until the end of December.

Yes, but theirs is compressed in a meat press. Mine is in its native state, still sliceable but not squished tightly together like cold cuts.

3.16 pounds. I'll be lucky if it makes it to Tuesday, I can't resist the stuff!

Things just don't feel right. So I turned my DC snow globe upside down to wind it, and all the glitter was an entrail like a horror film of missiles swirling. Something/intuition/soul is sending me a warning/bad omen/like an oracle gut hurt, like before 9/11. Had nightmares, couldn't sleep, lit 2 tall towers of metal on my porch, like the scene of Close encounters where the Dreyfus character couldn't stop himself. Something's not right, this is my DC globe..... :( [link to imgur.com (secure)]

Love the Devils Tower. We used to family vacation to Mt. Rushmore often as my father was from North Dakota and we would go visit his family.(step father). His mother was a bitch to me. I remember one time, all the kids got a popsicle but me. She literally would not give me a popsicle. :(

This is a cooking thread?

The conspiracy of lunch preparation?

I stumbled upon an odd thing.

A car I sold years ago in California.

There were some questions. I received a notice of a violation in California. It was exactly the same violation I had when I was as far to the right as I could get, trying to slow as cars shot around me, honking their horns. As far as I could see, all the toll booths were boarded up, and not one was left open. (A was crossing the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco.) I pulled over after passing through the electronic tolls to try to pay in person at the administrative building, but it wasn't open during morning rush hour. I had no fixed address for San Francisco to send the bill to, so I went on without paying the toll.

When I returned to Wisconsin, I paid the outrageous fine, including a note explaining the problem. (I ignored the second, higher bill.

Then, a couple of years later, I received another bill for running the tollgate in San Francisco. But the city seemed to be confused about the date. It was a couple of years after I sold my car and left the area.

Then, a couple of years ago, creditors were suing me into declaring bankruptcy. They were convinced I had a car they could take. Where did they get the foolish notion. I searched my own records and they didn't show the ownership of any car. (Perhaps we aren't allowed to see our records as creditor's see them. That would seem to be a matter of some sort of law.)

I was out of gas and money, when I learned that I needed papers from the State of California to sell my car. My papers from Wisconsin weren't good enough. A dealer offered me $750 for the car, but he needed me to drive somewhere downtown, apply for them, pay the fee, etc.

I checked at a Mexican American shop next door, who could take care of the papers, print them off for me to sigh, and they would take the car for $250. Fine, I couldn't carry the car on my back in the California mountains.

Anyway, I found my old car in my path in a Walmart Parking lot. It said it was for sale, and it gave a number to call. But on the other side of the car was a sign posted by the government, saying: "Do Not Buy This Car."

I guessed there was some question of ownership, although the signs were not specific. I explained the possible legal ramifications of buying the car as we discussed what a fine and reliable car it is.

Yes!! It is the 'official' GLP Foodie Thread, but it is more than recipes, it is relationship advice, car repair, a small support group with any welcome with a recipe contribution or just a good relaxing conversation.

I call it 'official' because someone made a shitty imitation of it last weekend [it was a theft of our intellectual property!] so we had OP banned and took over his thread even having the title changed to include "Klub Carl" at the end of it. 1rof1

Come on in and feel welcome! cheers

The rest of us have been gone ten thousand years.

If you remember what we were, and how we lived, then we'll have found life again.

Now we live in you; tell them of us.

Yep. In Beauty school, I was doing a shampoo set on an older woman. She showed me what happened to her face and advised I sleep on my back..I was already a back sleeper for pain management but now I really make sure I sleep on my back most of the night.

I went to cosmetology school too except I was in the skin care esthetician side. That's where I learned a lot about acids and how nothing else can exfoliate skin. I never got a chance to work though, maybe one day, but I doubt it.

I sleep on my back too but I turn my head, I need to keep it in a vice to avoid neck wrinkles lol.

here is how I trained myself to back sleep. Put a pillow under your knees.. It wakes you up just enough if you turn in the night and if you are not too tired and out of it, you will stay on your back. I do not sleep on a pillow as I noticed it made my neck sore and I was never able to work it out. peace

Don't let the disturbance of normality bring anguish upon you.

I think "anguish" did finally catch onto me. Hope your cat is shaking off what is ailing her. Sleep well.

It's weird, as a child I only slept on my back. I started sleeping on my side the past few years.

Haha--it's 5 PM and I'm still only in my underwear. I never got around to getting dressed.

I guess I should probably...
