I'm trying to make the food more sexy. Might get some barbis to display with the spaghetti bondage theme. lmao Food shots are getting boring.

I did that for a high school graphics project!

My "shrimp on the barbie" was a barbie doll buried to its neck in cocktail shrimp in glossy high contrast black and white. It won some silly award. 1rof1

LOL I won some state championship photo project too! It was a self portrait of my nostrils covered with a band aid but you couldn't see it because it was grainy and lots of contrast lol. I called it temporary nostril losage lol.

It's 16x20', my children are grown, my son seems to be having a very good time, sigh, in Cambodia...lol...too good of a time maybe. I lead a monkish existence. I'm going to get a double burner so I can at least do a pasta and a sauce. Tim has a fully stocked kitchen and again, his daughter is grown and in art school. So we are 2 empty nesters that get together around 4 for drinks. I haven't been eating well since the divorce, mainly snacking really. The convection oven (microwaves are poison) is the perfect size for one person.

Since I helped build this place I feel a very deep rooted attachment to it and it is a very long term rental (generational) and there are no rentals here, they are all Air B&B's now. The yuppies have taken over the Creek, and we are the last house in the Creek aside a huge park. I disdain of cooking for myself. I like cooking others, and cooking with others. And eating with others. SO it has been uninspirational to do much kitchen wise.

As for the cat, I know you were joking I just felt like typing! I have days like that. Might even have a gasp, Just Over Broke part time gig doing so, viewing American poly-ticks and what not from a Canadian perspective since I have a firm grasp of the American system. Firmer then I have of my own.

That sounds bittersweet but still cozy, except for the cigarette smoke that's probably not inviting. How's the quitting smoking coming along?

Despite it being uninspirational for you, you have inspired me. This is one of my favorite dishes you have suggested, spaghetti squash with garlic onions mushrooms and cilantro. Seasoned with black pepper, curry and vegeta. My lunch today, my mouth is still tingling.

Boris is molting into a banana head! He was so much nicer as a Darla, now he isn't afraid of us and bites the fingers that shove him away. The molt has a lot to do with his pissed off attitude too. I'll post his final results soon.

My husband told me to invite my dad over and we have to tell him he has mistaken about that photo. I told him you aren't supposed to tell people with dementia they are wrong, besides, has my dad ever admitted to being wrong? No you will piss him off either way. So I asked my dad if he as talked to her since the engagement and he said that he talks to her picture on his phone and he's not sure if he can hear her because she doesn't answer back and the same with the computer. So we know he's not talking to her but asked what kind of VISA she got deported on. Now we wait for her to respond. He said he won't go to marry her until he gets all her paperwork first and talks to a lawyer I said good. I think he thinks he can talk to pictures, he just doesn't understand the technology.

FTR I have not cooked anything much spectacular since my divorce. Here is my kitchen.
[link to imgur.com (secure)] Yes, I fetch water.
[link to imgur.com (secure)] Yes, my photo's suck!
[link to imgur.com (secure)]

2 frying pans, 1 pot, a kettle, a small yet decent knife, 1 bowl, 2 plates, a now dead fridge, and a very small pantry. I just thought the light was nice to take photo's of my 57" x35" kitchen. Kind of hard to a foodie with that. Tim did gift me flat bottom wine glasses. Oh, I have a mug as well. And a pint glass.

yes, I can and do now and then, go and cook at Tim's but it is a fine balance between friends/neighours/brothers and taking up too much space by doing so. So my culinary excursions have been minimal. Which is to be expected I think, it takes awhile to learn to cook for yourself if you have not done it in a long time and you have minimal tools. I'm going to buy a double burner hot plate I think shortly. My crock pot scouse is getting boring!
 Quoting: Lance Roseman From BC

So yeah, this looks more like a weekend getaway place where you bring prepped food and don't plan on cooking shit. Do you miss cooking? You have to be so creative in there, I see a hot plate, how hot does it get? Do you have an oven other than microwave? Can you build and outdoor oven for at least pizza or bread? One of my neighbors did it and it didn't look like an oven but she said it was an oven. Fuck, Mr. Chasity keeps talking about getting a cabin and I hope my kitchen isn't like yours Lance, no offence but that would stress me out.

Part of my grow-up as a child was in the second floor of an oak barn in an area of Ohio wilderness with lumber cut from the property and sent to the mill to be made into boards as its building material.

We had a pot-bellied stove downstairs in the barn for our heat and an outhouse in the woods for bathroom.

The kitchen was rather minimalist as I recall and our water was from an old-style hand operated pump. That was over fifty years ago, but as I recall I didn't starve or freeze to death. Apparently it worked and I gained some useful survival skills those years.

 Quoting: Louis in Richmond

Both of my children spent 4 of their early years in a yurt. We had an open kitchen (trailer sized gas 4 burner with a small oven) that was open to the air. It was pretty much like camping year round. We had heavy drapes (we'd cut a large portion of the wall out) for the winter so the food would stay warmer longer at the dining table which was handmade by a friend of mine since we had guest all the time. That was at the farm I used to own.

The kitchen island in my pic of my kitchen was cut with a chainsaw and assembled by my friend (who lived at the farm) as a test of his skills since he was working for a company that did custom log homes. Ie, he was showing off. There is a long and storied, story, to the island that is now, pretty much my kitchen! It brings me joy.

All in all, I don't want anything bigger to live in, I don't need much. I have a good bed, a decent view, a dining table I can pull out and seat 4 to light a candle and sip vodka/wine around, a soon to be revamped desk, a very beautiful coffee table and a cat. Here, there at minimum 25 people living up the mountain (because of the housing crisis) who make decent money. But there is nowhere to rent. I don't know how they do (like last night) 12F in tents! The young families all have buses and use gas to heat.

We have (2 doors over) a 62 year old woman who was living up the hill (a 30 min walk up, 20 down) and gave her some fellow who overwinters in Mexico's 25' campervan that sits on the property. She has heat, and a small kitchen. She is very happy. This is what happens when gentrification takes over. Hard workers are locked out of not only the housing market, but out of the rental market. The youth leave and pretty soon there are no apprentices for the trades because they can not afford to move out of their parents. And then all of a sudden the price to fix something here doubles.

I guess the urbanite yuppies made their beds and can afford to lay in it. Until one day their pipes burst because they don't live in the house and it takes 5 days for a plumber to show up and all their stuff is ruined, but they didn't know you need to leave a faucet dripping because they weren't paying attention and insurance doesn't cover it because it is owner error, not a flood. Fricking dolts.

I missed something along the way here in posts [maybe].

It has been busy at my office for me today so I haven't been on here much. I replaced a different agency's file server and web server as their server operating systems go out of support this month, configured two Police security PC's which have been delivered to them and installed by another and I worked by text message with a vendor's copier tech replacing three copiers / network color printers at a distant location.

And for me I confirmed my new Win 10 PC appears to now be fully immune to idiot policies and backdoors that some of my coworkers create and unleash. It had been compromised [from my perspective] within hours of being online last week.

I replaced the BIOS on it with UEFI firmware like it was supposed to come with, it can't be booted from a USB key without wiping it, the SSD drive and my added HDD are encrypted so they can't be read by others-- we can't have anyone seeing my GLP smilies can we? And best of all it is up, running, and ready to log on in less eighteen seconds of applying power from fully shut down. My Win 7 PC which I'm retiring takes over four minutes to start and this Win 10 PC Im on that I am retiring takes close to two minutes to start. So my productivity will go up and my wait time will go down.

And I'm heading out of the door to be home with my Mrs. and the kittehs in about five minutes.

All in all a great day!
The rest of us have been gone ten thousand years.

I made bread first thing this morning. I've been doing the cold water in the dough and letting it sit overnight. I think that comes out better. I made 2 batches, I've been doing that daily ever since I found that recipe.

I made spaghetti squash, I showed a picture of that. For breakfast I had a bun with mackerel, mayo and cilantro, I've been craving that. Everyone else has been eating sandwiches with the buns or cream cheese. I'm not hungry but I want to eat a bun with pate on it just for fucks sake. But I think I'm too full after that cake and coffee, I'll probably have that for dinner.

what did you eat today?

what are you making to day
 Quoting: Q33

Damn!

Just a Banana so far! with lots of Ice Water!

I didn't think it got that cold there.

We tend to get about 10 days of minus (I'll guess in F -2 to -12) weather, then we tend to get the Pineapple Express blowing up from the South Pacific and it brings on a false Spring and we can have 65F (guessing) but it also brings a lot of rain, which I love. But on the balmy days it is great! Oddly, everytime one of my mothers have visited it has been during this period of early Spring if they can't make a summer visit. That is our winter. After that it is a toss-up of who knows what. My faucet is slowly dripping...lol, it is outside though for the most part.

It is 23F out right now....in other words...using an outdoor composting toilet...isn't much fun!

It's a greenhouse, along with my sink but in a separate chamber. I have a bath at Tim's. It's fricking cold though! I could slightly heat it but whatever. I have to go outside to urinate anyhow. Meh, it's not THAT cold...;)

Oh, my... it’s so fucking delicious!

That is a perfect dish for me here. Put the potato chunks into the 'ultravection oven' for a bit, fry up the veg in the cast iron, add the taters, smush the mix onto one side, cook the eggs on the other and combine with sauce!
