Quoting: Wondering Mind They were younger not old people. The Atkins diet had a lot of other things in it too. This particular diet is only beef. That's it. Well, water too. It's very radical. I don't think it's new. There won't be any huge slabs of bacon with this one. Everything you need to know about the carnivore diet I just found this thread from two days ago on the same thing. I stocked up on some steaks. I'll be the guinea pig. I really would like to see if this could help. Anyone else feel free to join me, we can compare notes. ol' scratch User ID: 65225716 United States 12/04/2018 04:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It has to do with the proteins and their metabolites. Some folks run better on different diets, and I think some of it is based on your ancestral eating habits. The Aleuts and innuits do really well on fatty meats and protiens, but not so well on sugars. I'd study your background and heritage and see if you might do best on foods that eaten by the folks in your bloodline. stillhere User ID: 72031485 United States 12/04/2018 04:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have done it, good quality rare beef or raw is best. Most of your calories will come from fat. Rib eye is good, as is chuck roast. Many have had long term success. The downside is that it is expensive, and over time you lack potassium, b6, fiber.... Is helpful for people with gut issues, rare meat is actually very easy to digest. Many plant foods are full of salicylates, oxalates, histamines, etc, and meat is full of bioavaible nutrients. No harm in trying it, but you need a lot of fatty meat each day to make it work. Would caution on long term use. My blood type is o positive, so it worked fine for me. I think there's even a company that will do a DNA test and determine how that affects your diet. It might be interesting to try. I can't remember the name of it though. I'm wondering how it gets really expensive if that's the only thing that you're eating? Almost weekly in Houston, a two pack Bone in Ribeye costs less than $10 on sale at HEB or Kroger. That's ~32 oz of beef. I cannot think of much that is cheaper than that. |

They knew to drink cups and cups of the fat and the juices. Organs too. You can survive on just animal foods, but it isn't the same thing as just buying burger and you're done! The trad mixed diet is good for most people, unless you have a serious health problem such as diabetes. There are plenty of bad things to drop from the standard American diet if you want to make healthy changes. Such as modern fats and sugar. Someone mentioned people getting heart attacks after trying Atkins. There is a time at the beginning of Atkins in which you pee out a bunch of water and electrolytes. This can take a very bad toll on the heart. Of course, the person suddenly looses weight and in their excitment, they delve farther into the diet. Making things worse. Best to make all changes slowly, and a home-made mineral-rehydration formula should be taken. (In the olden days, this would probably have been the heavy amounts of fat and broth and organs) Last Edited by Eilonwy on 12/06/2018 08:59 AM “A grower of turnips or shaper of clay, a commot Farmer or a king--every man is a hero if he strives more for others than for himself alone.” Lloyd Alexander, The Castle of Llyr |

Mostly it was beef but I did have bacon, eggs and some chicken. My joints no longer hurt, my brain fog is gone and my energy level is outstanding. Try it for at least 7 days and see what you think. As others have said not all food works for everyone. Good luck and I hope you like it as much as I do. [link to www.goodhousekeeping.com (secure)] |
