Epicurus is better. I like how he knowingly lied about the size of the sun so the evil Platonists wouldn't be able to turn it into a god. Noble lies lie twice when they call themselves noble, do they not?

Pythagoras was one of the first people in Western history to abstain from eating meat for moral reasons. Eating the dead, he taught his followers, polluted the body—and so they must never kill a living thing. His rules were a bit weird, though. You might remember that we mentioned earlier his sacrifice of oxen—and, yes, he did both. Like a vegan who eats fish and chicken, Pythagorean vegetarianism had some weird loopholes.”The offerings he made were always inanimate,” the Greek writer Diogenes wrote in a biography of Pythagoras. Then Diogenes clarified: “Though some say that he would offer cocks, sucking goats, and porkers.” Still, Pythagoras drew the line somewhere. “But lambs,” Diogenes explained, “Never!”Pythagoras’s rules seemed every bit as weird to the Greeks as they do to us. During his time, the Greeks spread a joke about a Pythagorean who insisted that he never ate any living thing. After getting caught eating dog meat, the Pythagorean said, “Yes, but [I kill] them first, and so they are still not alive.”

Your analysis lacks nuance. You work with liars. In this particular case, associative fallacy isn't. The secret of good cop/bad cop is that both cops are bad. If you're honest, then tell me my motives without resorting to clinical and insulting diagnoses or caricatures, or bible tropes which people are taught to dehumanize them. And since you're a garbage eater, I can at least expect you not to engage in class-snobbery, especially knowing where you came from, right?

One of the Stoics had a slave who stole from him. The slave said that it was Fate, and the Stoic replied that it was also fate that he beat him for it. Those loopholes exist everywhere, and when I elevate a person it is because of a quality. What is elevating in a 'muckraker' covered in lice like you are? You thought to add fear to contempt and it turned into hate, and that's pretty natural. Lies eroded remaining trust, and love mortgaged on prior lies fled and never came totally back. It is a lifestyle backfiring on you, not a person betraying you.

You want freedom from the lies your good heart chose to believe.

Let it go, feel the pain.

I never wanted this, I just didn't want you to have it either.

We're all in pain, it's what we do about it that matters.

They never took your soul, just your loosh.

That's actually a gift if you can let go.

That 'soul' bit is an extremely interesting invention. It allows us to hurt a person and say we didn't, to call upon a relationship or agreement where none exists, and to assert innocence where the body and mind are black as sin. Again, people who engage in lying as readily and as often as you would certainly put a premium on 'forgiveness.' Why is revenge so bad, if all we are is souls then people ought not to care that their loved ones get killed, because their souls are still flitting around somewhere, right? Yet it is this possibility that softens you. And since the 'soul' gambit is yet another lie in the repository of the collectivists, the 'me' you claim to care about might really only be you all over again. I've got some papers to shred, but I will check this thread again.
