Russia has many coastal anti-ship missile launchers along the coast, and many jets festooned with anti-ship missiles as well. In addition to navy vessels. Add in some crazily devious mines that are more like tethered homing torpedoes and its a nightmare.

Second, the US is preparing to send a warship to the Black Sea, not the Sea of Azov. Not quite the same impact.

Sorry to throw ice water on a good doom boner, but we're not quite there yet.

That is why whole thought that NATO would sail into Azov sea is preposterous. They don't even let Ukrainian navy in and you think they would let Americans sail there.
