Re: Trump is slammed for not reciting The Apostles' Creed during George H.W. Bush’s funeral
The line in the creed about believing in the holy catholic church would probably be why he wouldn't recite it.
 Quoting: The Semi Shut In

Please refer to my previous post. Protestant churches around the world and throughout history have recited and used it as a simple article of their faith.
 Quoting: InPneuma

If he didn't know that history one would think the creed was a pledge to the catholic church, I'm sure you can see that.
 Quoting: The Semi Shut In

Catholic in this instance means “universal, all over the world; not specifically the Roman Catholic Church.

I dont understand the ..Reciting it ..if the guy is speaking it ..why talk when he is?..Trump did the right thing..Not being rude is class act!

You dont talk when another is speaking, its just rude!
 Quoting: The ring of truth

Well I for one would like to see who is reciting it and who is not. It is the creed of the Christian faith. Melania is Catholic and Trump is Presbyterian. He should know the Creed. In a Baptism ceremony, the vows of faith are substituted for the Creed. One question asked is: Do you renounce Satan and all his works? To recite the Creed is to renounce satan.

Did Obama recite the Creed? Did the Clintons?
 Quoting: Pees and Ques

Actually my church when i was growing up (a little evangelical place in MN) didnt recite it.

Re: Trump is slammed for not reciting The Apostles' Creed during George H.W. Bush’s funeral
In church services, one doesn't have to recite it out loud. POTUS and FLOTUS might be saying it in their heads.

However, as evangelical Christians, they wouldn't believe in the "holy catholic church"...

The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

It wasn't an omission without thought and purpose on their parts. There is a solid reason why they chose not to join the congregation in this prayer.

I'm glad they care enough to think ahead of every detail they wish to participate in. People mindlessly iterate what is supposed to be said without thought and without heart.

Jesus' big complaint was just that. The Pharisees would go through religious protocol, and then behind people's backs they would commit sin. Jesus called them hypocrites.

You are absolutely correct. You do know that Trump was trained by Jesuits at Fordham for 2 years, from whence G. Gordon Liddy, in the 1st edition of his autobiography Will, wrote that they rule the world? And likewise Donald's son Eric on the board of business at jesuit Georgetown? You also realize Melania is catholic and comes from a catholic family? You also realize that Roman Catholic Church is the publicly admitted greatest enemy of liberty, as elucidated in books such Foreign Conspiracy Against the Liberities of the U.S, Proof's of a Conspiracy, Behind the Dictators, The Secret History of the Jesuits, Romanism: a Menace to the Nations, History of Romanism, Catholic Power Today, Vatican Assains, 50 Years in the Church of Rome, and on and on and on...

You realize also this was all prophesied in the Holy Scriptures in extreme detail, both old and new testaments? And that prophesy, using symbols indicates that America would become a church-state perseucting power, just like the papacy, using the so-callled protestant churches, and that she'd ultimately be behind it?

This is where the mark of the beast (which represents the mark of a kingdom in prophecy, Dan. 7:24) comes in which will start in America and be enforced globally. Those that receive it will be damned, those that do not, will be persecuted and not be able to buy or sell.

It's not an RFID, it's not a tattoo, and it's not anything to do with a "skynet" type system, it's something in conflict with one of God's commandmets, specifically His mark, which he states is the saturday sabbath (Ezek. 20:12), and hence why those that worship the PAPACY through accepting this doctrine, it says "have no REST" (rev. 14:11)

Cardinal Gibbobs, and many others, has even stated publicly that Rome's mark is Sunday... look it up.

Hence why Jesus said the final deception would be so great that even the very elect would be deceived were it possible. So as you can see, most so-called Christians have already accepted Rome's mark and will be doomed.

The real trick is to learn to think critically- ask more, and better questions- question every little detail. Who, what, when, where, why, and how? And how do these things relate to the facts I've already established, and observations made?

“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. 6But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

7“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. 8Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!"

The others are reading it. So it isn’t like they have memorized it. Also, some Protestants don’t believe in creeds. The Disciples of Christ and Church of Christ don’t say creeds. So it isn’t like for Protestants saying the creed is essential.

The Obamas and Clinton can say the creed all day long and it won’t make me believe they are religious. Jimmy Carter is the only one who I think is really very religious. And I bet at his Baptist church they don’t say the creed typically.

It is not really a prayer so much as a statment of belief and of what the faith consists. It is Catholic in so much as this is the Faith handed down by the Apostles. Some Protestants will refuse to ‘say creeds’ but then they have a list of things they believe in or statment of faith. The Apostles Creed is a short synopsis of the Faith.

The CONTENT of any prayer is not the issue.

The ACTION of repetitious reciting under the illusion that such this makes you closer to God or makes God happy is instead within the category of idol worship. Sorry if that ruffles your feathers. Truth sux sometimes.

In the Creed, you are reciting your articles of faith. You are declaring yourself to be a Christian. It seems to me, it is only in reciting it without believing it in your heart that you may not be saved. I will have to ask some of my more devote and scholarly friends about this.
 Quoting: Pees and Ques

For as the Creed consists of four parts, the first relating to God the Father, the second to the Son, the third to the Holy Spirit, and the fourth to the Church, so the author, in fulfillment of his task, divides his Institutes into four parts, corresponding to those of the Creed.

I have sat in church shoulder to shoulder with some of the most vile, evil people. They all can recite prayers and perform the ritualistic sit, stand, kneel. I know exactly what you mean!

As a child and teenager, I was forced to attend our Catholic church. I remember being so confused because some of the meanest people would attend church and even sit in the first pew. They would act like they were so pure and holy.

Once out of church, they would have loved to stab everyone in the back. They would gossip and were full of hate.

Re: Trump is slammed for not reciting The Apostles' Creed during George H.W. Bush’s funeral
Why do people harp on every little thing while ignoring the obvious?

This man holds what is arguably the most powerful job in the world. So, let's think about that for just a second.

Imagine the data that is running through that man's brain every single waking moment. Information so compartmentalized that staffers in the same office can't share it, let alone understand it's full scope.

So, I think it's fair to assume that President Trump just had more important things to think about while he was sitting in that pew - far more important than reciting a creed which was certainly not written or spoken by any Apostle. He took 30 seconds in a three hour ceremony to seperate himself from his surroundings.

How often does your mind wander at work? Or for that matter, at home? I'd guess frequently. We never notice it unless our lapse causes us later grief. When you are POTUS, those lapses can prove devastating which is why it takes a very special man to be President of the United States. It's not so much about talent, or inherant wisdom, but more about focus and having the ability to recognize -and act upon- priorities.

And that's why I'm willing to cut this one a little slack if he takes a few moments to disconnect from what is a very controlled ceremony to ponder things pertainng more to life, instead of death.

BTW: if you need proof of how many people allow their minds to wander, just look at the other faces sutting in that Cathedral and notice how many eyes are just looking around. They're not focussed on what's being said: they're checking out other people, that huge impressive building or simply sitting there looking really bored. To her credit, Hillary Clinton was always focussed - just notice how often she looks directly at the cameras on her! 'Nuff said, there!

Revenge Round 2. In progress.
Why Is it so Hard to Live the Christian Life?

This happened because she was a crypto Jew, masquarading as a Christian, to damage Christianity and infiltrate prominent
Christians, and she did that job VERY WELL.

The beauty of the Jewish tradition part is quite stomach turning.

Jesus condemned their traditions quite forcefully.

For example- Luke 11:39-54. They'd call that "antisemitism" today though, which is probably why the ADL wants to ban the New Testament.

Note: Do Jews ever pay taxes? Or do they just make up shits about Ukraine and guys in caves..hoax, Tel Aviv scribed.

So why wasn't everyone born Jewish?

Because somebody has to buy retail and pay taxes.
