Why would he recite such an awful thing? I was taught that Christ was resurrected and ascended to heaven. Not that he joined the dead.. from the time of Christ.. no copyright, too dang old... Apostles creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. Do you believe in Jesus Christ? I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. Loup, the answer is both. In the 3 days after He died and BEFORE He ascended He had to do something first After the cross He descended into the heart of the Earth Like Jonah in the whale's belly for 3 days. Yes our Lord stopped to smell the flowers first! ;)  You are 100% correct, so why does the Apostles creed end with his descending, followed by a period. I don't like it at all. Too many unlearned people will take that at face value and never seek to know anything else, it basically gives fuel to the fire that the atheist burn.
