Why is it taking China a month to get to the moon?

all depends on the transfer orbit used, how much energy they put into it. You could expend a lot of energy and get there in one extended orbit. Or expend a little just extending the orbit a small amount and using gravity assists every time it comes close to Earth again. Takes a lot longer but far more energy efficient.

what they need is fusion reactors that is the real game changer.

There's no rush, they're already in lunar orbit. They're going to test the probe's communications link to a relay satellite they have in a halo orbit at L2 before they try to land on the far side of the moon.

They have to be certain that will work; they won't be able to directly communicate with the lander from earth. They may also be waiting for the orbital plane to line up with the intended landing site.

Probably because they are actually going to the moon. Hope they are using better tech than they send us.
