I don't want this thread to digress into an argument about video games. I have an 18 year old son, who is addicted to this game and I wanted to learn more about it and the company behind it.

I found that a Chinese investment company owns 40% of the game's maker Epic Games inc. Since there are many examples of Chinese influence in our Hollywood movie and entertainment industries and a huge social movement in this country towards socialism/communism, I wonder if the Chinese might also be influencing our youth in the gaming industry ?

There are several recent articles that highlight the negative effects the game is having on kids. I am wondering if this particular game is leveraging a specific technology or process/method to make it more addictive than others ?
