You recently signed the petition “Leave the EU without a deal in March 2019.”:
[link to petition.parliament.uk (secure)]

The Petitions Committee (the group of MPs who oversee the petitions system) met today and agreed to schedule a debate on Monday 14 January 2019 on the following group of petitions expressing different views on leaving the European Union:

Leave the EU without a deal in March 2019. [link to petition.parliament.uk (secure)]
Leave the EU now [link to petition.parliament.uk (secure)]
Walk away now! We voted for a No Deal Brexit [link to petition.parliament.uk (secure)]
Grant a People's Vote if Parliament rejects the EU Withdrawal Agreement [link to petition.parliament.uk (secure)]
To have a second referendum on Britain leaving the EU [link to petition.parliament.uk (secure)]
STOP BREXIT [link to petition.parliament.uk (secure)]
Stop Brexit if parliament rejects the deal [link to petition.parliament.uk (secure)]

The Committee has decided to have a single debate on these petitions because it wanted to ensure they were debated as soon as possible, so they would be less likely to be overtaken by events. The Committee has included some smaller petitions because they are very similar to those with 100,000 signatures.

The debate will start at 4.30pm. You can watch it at [link to www.parliamentlive.tv] A transcript will be published the following day at [link to hansard.parliament.uk (secure)]

You can follow the Petitions Committee on Twitter @HoCpetitions

PETER OBORNE: Why January 15 is Britain's most momentous date since the Second World War

This is because, over the past few weeks, we have witnessed the start of a quiet but profoundly important constitutional revolution which is changing the way that Britain is governed.

The stalled Brexit negotiations have led to power steadily shifting from the executive — the Prime Minister, her No 10 machine and the Government as a whole — to Parliament.

The architect of this revolution is Commons Speaker John Bercow...

All this demeans the high office he holds. Yet as a believer in our traditional system of representative democracy, I welcome a rebalancing of power from an over-mighty Downing Street to the mother of Parliaments.

As part of that recalibration, last week Bercow gave MPs the right to force the Prime Minister to make a statement about her Brexit intentions if she is defeated on Tuesday.

Also, Parliament has secured for itself the power to amend Mrs May’s plans, thus enabling MPs to dictate to the Prime Minister the shape of Brexit.

It is impossible to overstate the importance of this development.

Did you see they rejected debating the UN Migration compact, they delayed responding to it then said they'd already signed it so there is no point in debating it.

It got 130,000 signatures in a few days.

"The Petitions Committee decided not to debate the petition you signed – “The UK should not agree the UN's Global Compact for Migration”

The Committee has decided not to schedule a debate on this petition because the UN Global Compact on Migration has already been agreed by the UK Government. The final text of the Compact was agreed by the UK Government in July last year. It was adopted by the UN General Assembly in December. "

Yes, kept it very quiet last year. Difficult to find any average person that knew anything at all about it. All a bit late to organise against the signing by the time nfo of it reached the public in December.

INTERESTING

I have been intrigued by the speaker's handling of things over last few weeks.

Even in minor debates Bercow has been bubbling up to be quite a "personality".
