Personally, I think it's a conspiracy...  It is. I had to go through hell to learn to draw and paint like the nineteenth century masters. They were the culmination of over 500 years of tradition. Then modernism came along. I would love to write a book on the subject someday, as it has affected us all, very personally. It has! It's the cultural equivalent of book-burning. You should write that book.
