Kind of a serious scientific topic for a major holiday evening lol.

Well a Super Nova would eliminate the Sun (though I did just see a search result where a white dwarf remained), but a Classical Nova does not kill the star (but does involve a Binary System).

Yeah the sun going nova in 2046 puts me in about my late eighties - I could still be around and go out with a bang I guess.

LOL his lectures are good and his charts are clear but a lot to take in even when sober, for sure. Happy New Year pool.

Says it emits a dust cloud of charged particles (or something) along with waves of energy I suppose, says the matter ejected formed the Kuiper Belt and that comets are material that was knocked off the earth by the force of the energy from the sun.

Well a lot of researchers are groping toward something like this, you can't blame people for trying to make sense of things, there is so much that is unexplainable and science acts like they know everything all the time when for sure we for sure know they don't know everything. If we know anything we know that.

I didn't hang out on Cyberspace Orbit all that much but I was there enough to know that they were totally obsessed with the sun, and I was pretty mystified as to why that was.

Seems like ancient peoples were also obsessed with the sun and built all kinds of monuments to mark its seasons and positions, and worshiped it.

Maybe I'm starting to understand why there is a portion of internet researchers who are and have been obsessed with the sun!

I agree with what you are saying, we don’t know everything civilation may be forever changed as we know it but I believe there will be survivors that will adapt. A new civilation will be created. One that will come out of misery but as time goes on it will improve.

Well doesn't that just explain everything. It puts all the missing pieces together. Explains all the missing trillions of dollars, all the bunkers, supplies, all of this is ongoing and will probably go on until the event. Who will be the ones to occupy the bunkers and be around to start the new civilization?

Since this is cyclical there will be some survivors to start this all over again.

Actually it's not a matter of semantics, these are two differently defined things, and the classical novae (not supernovae) is very specific to a binary system.

Took me a bit of google magic to get it to give replies for nova instead of supernova.. try a vs in there.

Being the designated party pooper is a dirty job but somebody's gotta do it.....

This guy has no clue about the history of our solar system or wtf the major ice ages were about. Little ice ages sucvh as we appear to be entering now are just fluctions in the way a star operates. The real ice ages had cosmic causes and will not recur within the age of man on this planet. Our system is stable now and anything trying to get here across cosmic distances will take millions of years starting from now to do it.

Notice that last real ice ages did not affect the arctic region (all the large animal remains found in the far North)... Those ages were caused by auroral bands over the present temporate regions and only affected those regions.

I can tell you why the Sun is so important. Its not the Sun per se but symbolic of Noon, 12 oclock
