I asked all here to explain this: Question: There are granite blocks from the Alps, sitting on the eastern slopes of the Jura mountains, at 4,000 feet above sea level. Who can explain their existence at that location? Quoting: nemesis8?  as the earth stopped rotating, it was split apart at the seams and portions rose and fell. a portion rose between the alps and jura mountains splitting it into two different mountain ranges. That is AWESOME! That would really explain how such EXTREME MOUNTAINS--like the Alps and that really big one they have there...The Matterhorn that is this huge jagged edge edifice that's hard to believe could be carved by any glacier! If the centrifugal force of the rotation stoppage would cause the crust to buckle in places like the Alps, that would totally explain that formation! Thanks for the idea! Wow!  O'sCookie
