Sumatra Tsunami may "Mirror" what could happen on the U.S. West Coast--from a Hawaii Landslide! Video
EDITED: 12-24-2018

Good article concerning the on-going eruption/tsunami
in Indonesia:

AND ALSO...

I'm doing the "SWEET-AND-SOUR" this weekend with this
thread on Sumatra...but a happier thread on a CAPTION
CONTEST for 1 of 3 full up-grades. If you aren't too
bummed by this thread...shoot over to the CONTEST and
make up a funny caption. Lots to smile about on THAT
thread--link below:

Thread: Sorry--Closed. CHRISTMAS Caption-Contest--Enter for 1 of 4 January 2019 Full-UpGrades! wow!

Have a wonderful CHRISTMAS...O'sCookie

------------END EDITS---------------------------

This is a little "doomy" for Christmas week...but just
thought you guys might want some insight into this new
development in Sumatra.

ON-GOING BREAKING NEWS FROM SUMATRA, INDONESIA DECEMBER 22, 2018:

AND
Arial top view of Mount Krakatoa showing a
significant part of one flank of the mountain
missing (you need to look closely at the left
side of the mountain.)

Dramatic video posted on social media showed a wall of water suddenly crashing
into an open-air concert by pop group "Seventeen" -- hurling band members off
the stage and then flooding into the audience.

A sudden without-warning TSUNAMI has hit the coastline of
the S.W. Sumatra chain of islands this weekend. IS THIS a graphic warning for the citizens of Hawaii and the coastal
states of the U.S.A.? Yes...There's a LINK!

MATCHING THE "LEILANI EVACUATION NEWS FROM MAY 2018"
we have this report from MrMBB333 explaining the SIMILARITY
between the Hawaii Hilina Slump landslide area on Hawaii
with the current TRAGIC NEWS of a TSUNAMI hitting the
Indonesia Chain of Islands from Krakatoa Volcano landslide!

[link to youtu.be (secure)]
FairUSE
MrMBB333 gives the latest info on the
Indonesia Tsunami (underwater landslide)
and explains how THIS EVENT is similar
to what scientists "feared would happen
during the Kileaua Eruption on Hawaii's
big island in May 2018 which could have
sent a TSUNAMI WAVE TO THE U.S.A.

If you recall back in May 2018...the global news was focused
on the Big ISLAND of Hawaii as geologists warned of a
similar landslide situation taking place on U.S.A. soil
as that we are seeing in Sumatra this weekend. Below is
an archived video from "Mary Greeley News" reporting on
those theories by concerned geologists during the Hawaii
volcano disaster.

REPORT FROM LAST MAY 2018...COULD THIS SAME TYPE
OF VOLCANO ERUPTION/LANDSLIDE RISK BE HAPPENING IN
HAWAII? UDECIDE (...and why in the name of GOD are
they allowed to DRILL at this unstable site?)

[link to youtu.be (secure)]
FairUSE
8 Mintues duration. Mary Greeley News from June 2018.
Mary starts to discuss the Hilina Slump landslide risk
(similar to what we are seeing this weekend with the
underwater slide/tsunami near the Sumatra Chain) at
the 1 Minute Mark.

ANOTHER VIDEO JUST IN...TSUNAMI BUOYS PLACED IN 2012
WERE "NOT WORKING." (UNBELIEVABLE...)

[link to youtu.be (secure)]
FairUSE
The story behind the quake/tsunami buoy system
meant to warn the people of Indonesia.

The "take-away" is BOTH concern about the area of
Hawaii called "The Hilina Slump" and that people are
allowed to build communities there...while there is
ALSO active energy "drilling" in the same landslide-prone
east flank of the island.

Prayers up for the people in harm's way on BOTH islands
Sumatra/Hawaii.

Wow!! Global seismic activity is ramping up good and steady now. Being on coast lines can be hazardous.

Boy...You said it!

What's so disturbing to me with this new comparison video
from MrMBB333 and Mary Greeley News (that the Sumatra
underwater landslide from Krackatoa is almost a MIRROR to
the Hilina Slump area on the East flank of the Big Island
of Hawaii...) is that there are actually neighborhoods
built there both on the side of the mountain and on the
coastline directly below where the slide might occur.

How do they NOT have geological studies and ZONE appropriate
housing codes for the safety of communities KNOWING that
this has historical slides in the past--catastrophic slides
and not little harmless ones?

Then PUT ON TOP OF THE GEOLOGY of the island...PERMITS to
the energy companies to actually DRILL IN THIS SAME AREA.
One video I watched had this one elderly woman trying to
fight the drilling company because the NOISE FROM THE DRILLS
kept her family awake at night. They were only a football
field away from her house!

Anyways...we all can spell CORRUPTION, RIGHT? Turns out
that crook from Arizona has a controlling interest in the
Hawaii energy company....what's his name?

Thanks for your post!

cheers

I suppose if you would wish to see the entire Western
Seaboard UNDER WATER and millions killed, (The Grinch of
Christmas?)...then I would guess you would say that a
SUMATRA-LIKE TSUNAMI from a landslide into the Pacific from
the coast of Hawaii would be a "good thing."

The TV Series LOST had this clip in the PILOT EPISODE
September 2004. Only 10-12 weeks later, the 2004 Christmas
Great Quake and Tsunami (which killed 240,000 people around
the Pacific Rim) happened placing many communities under
water. That's NOT a good thing.

Sorry. Anak Krakatau is nothing like the shield volcano(s) of Hawaii. Nor are the tsunamis alike (particularly what causes them).

The only part that may be correct (and extremely obvious), is that one tsunami, when it arrives onto a coastline, may look like another.

But the processes that create said tsunamis are definately not a "mirror".

I would cast my view in the direction of the Canary Islands in the eastern Atlantic. Specifically La Palma (Cumbre Vieja), instead of Hawaii, as a better comparison to Anak Krakatau.

I need to respectfully disagree since the underwater
landslide causing this weekend's tsunami in Sumatra
would be similar to the landslide geolgists are concerned
about happening on Hawaii's East Flank. There are videos
on the internet you may find which explain the history
of landslides and tsunami evidence underwater below the
area of concern in Hawaii. It's exactly like the geology
happening in Sumatra now.

You need to watch the video. But I appreciate your
input. TY

Through the grace of God...not because the conditions
aren't there or the proven geologic history of the Island
doesn't suggest it happened in the past.

Part of the Big Island WILL eventually break off and fall into the sea, the Hawaiian Islands have a geologic history of that happening time after time for each island that was created by being over the "hot spot".

The question becomes WHEN, not IF ... and how one can determine the timing risk.

For the moment the "slump" is resting on an underwater ledge that extends out from the island. As long as that ledge holds then the slump is probably at least "semi" stable. The REAL question then probably becomes the stability of that ledge.

The stability of the ledge is an unknown.

Will the additional weight put on it by the slump's growth lead to it having a sudden catastrophic failure or partial failure?

Is the ledge itself unstable? (we KNOW the slump in unstable). The ledge was mostly ignored over the years, though there are now efforts underway to map it and try to resolve the issue of it's structural integrity and stability.

My personal belief is that it is only "semi" stable, but even in that condition it could continue to sit there and hold up the slump for another 500 or even 2000+ years before it might have a failure ... on the other hand give it a good enough shake and it might collapse tomorrow.

The KEY to watch for is a high intensity earthquake that really gives the ledge a good shake.

The slump itself has moved dramatically during high intensity earthquakes over the last 150 years. How much has the ledge moved or partially collapsed during those shakes? They do NOT know!!

I know if I lived on the Big Island I would NOT live on the slump area at all ... and would make sure my residence was at least 800-1000 feet above sea level.

GOOD ARTICLE ON ON-GOING ERUPTION IN INDONESIA. Tsunami
on the 22nd/23rd was over 10 feet high.

MORNING NEWS REPORTS THIS AREA MAY RECEIVE EVEN MORE
TSUNAMI FROM THIS UNSTABLE VOLCANO AS ITS EAST FLANK
OF THE CALDERA IS COLLAPSING.

I missed this thread that was up one day before
mine (I'm focused on Hawaii--which they aren't covering.)
Thread: KRAKATOA erupts: At least 429 dead from 'volcano tsunami' in Indonesia. High potential exists for another tsunami.
