I never know what to say to the cat, actually, so I've started this whole narrative in which I ask her how the cats are doing back in her country of origin and if she meows I say "And then they did WHAT to your village??" and "They burned down everything??"

I don't have problems....

I just have no idea what you're supposed to say when an animal is staring at you.
