rccola User ID: 73963206 United States 09/13/2019 10:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A few years ago i acquired a hand full of old papers. Among them was a bulletin from a County in Kansas announcing a reduction in staff and notifying where people throughout the county had to go to pick up their money from a WPA "special direct relief fund" ($46,000). Dated September ,14th 1935 It was part of the WPA work program . The area was comprised of many very small coal mining camps. These checks were emergency funds allocated according to need. Reading the information was a humbling experience. Also included in the papers was a hand written, 4 page letter(5x7 sheets) written in pencil dated July 26, 1917 from a man to his brother in a neighboring town or nearby camp. Reading the letter gave me insight into the desperation of the times, and how blessed we all are to live in modern USA. |

Quoting: Mental Case I still have the schmidt scenic collection before beer cans were aluminum (tin back then). Kodachrome slides from a caribean cruise the family took when I was in 7th grade. (I was in photography class & took all the pics...borrowed the principals 35 MM camera). My girlfriend had a bunch of old 35 mm laying around that her son finally converted for her. Turns out she went to the last concert by John Lennon (with Elton John) at Madison Square Garden 1974. He converted it and he was like "Mom! Do you know what you have here????" It was his last performance before he was shot. She posted it free for all to share on Youtube. Yoko saw it and she got to meet her in the city. Everyone was more into Elton John she said. Coats were searched on way in as it was Nov. They checked one pocket and found the wine. After that, they never checked the other pocket with the 35mm camera. Impressive! |

Bowen in 1717. As for what I've owned the longest.... my dad's zippo from the early 1970's and my grandmother's tea glasses from the 1960's. I did have, at one point, my grandparents dining room table made by Thomas Jefferson himself.. but it got commandeered by my mother who gave it to her cousin who used it as a woodshop work bench. Such a shame. "Tempus Fugit" |

We didn't get into Mission Control or anything, that was off limits, but we did get into the auditorium where the press conferences were held. Empty at the time. These metal signs were on ropes strung in between metal posts that were a couple hundred yards out from the bldg. FCK the WEF! Keep your hands off my country! |

Some of this stuff goes back 50 years of my existence.. A teddy bear (large) from 1965, a carnival cane, I won in a carnival, about 1970.. I still use it to reach for things and grab them in my environ.. Quoting: HeinzTzveiDreiFier There are multiple things, among the new and beautiful, such as furniture or a new bed spread, etcetera. What do you own that you've owned nearly all of your life? Nothing. Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast.
