OP has a distinct lack of understanding as to what property actually is. Property is the investment of ones time, their short period on this earth, their life, to create or obtain something of tangible value in exchange for a portion of their life. If you do not understand this basic principle of what property is, you cannot grasp what the defense of property means to those that do. Theft of property is the theft of a portion of the property owners life. It cannot be regained without expending more life to regain it. We are beings of limited life, understand that and you can understand why some cultures cut off people's hands for theft.

Man shot and killed by Lubbock homeowner in attempted burglary, police confirm

LUBBOCK, Texas (KLBK) - A man trying to burglarize vehicles and homes was shot by a homeowner on Wednesday, according to police. He later died, they said.

Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 3500 block of 38th Street just before 10:00 in the evening. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot once.

The man was transported to UMC with serious injuries but later died at the hospital, they said.

Police later released the name of the man who died. He was identified as Oliver Perez, 43.

Information obtained through the initial course of the investigation indicate Perez was attempting to burglarize vehicles and homes in the area when he was shot by a homeowner.

At this time, no arrests have been made. An investigation by LPD’s METRO unit is on-going.

Investigators are asking residents in this area who believe they may have caught any suspicious video on camera overnight to send that video to the department’s Facebook page (@LubbockPD) via messenger.

Seems that many here would rather give out a summary execution and take a father away from his kids -- and sadly most of those are "Christians"
