Health concerns urge Wi-Fi removal

An alternative is to network with the phone lines wired inside your house. Anyone tried this?

Sounds like it's time for the tin-foil hats. I have yet to make one, but I will, I will!

Another good reason to have tin-foil hats is this:

January 26, 2007 -- Save your aluminum foil "hats." According to a technology expert who is familiar with the Raytheon Active Denial System (ADS), tested January 24 at Moody Air Force base in Georgia, the millimeter microwave directed beam weapon can be defeated by a crowd of people using aluminum- or gold-coated Mylar to conduct the beam to ground or even direct it back to the Humvee housing the ADS system.

Although the Humvee is shielded, any law enforcement or military personnel standing near the Humvee would get a burning taste of their own medicine if the directed beam were reflected back to its source or to a crowd of police. In addition to aluminum or gold coated Mylar, Mylar reflective space blankets, aluminum coated windshield heat protective screens, and more sophisticated and precise corner cube retro-reflectors or Luneburg spheres can all be used to reflect the millimeter wave beam back to its source.

The source we spoke to also revealed that the ADS technology has already been used in Iraq against civilian rioters even though the Pentagon claims it will not be deployable until 2010. The source added that even if the ADS Humvee is present at the anti-war march in Washington tomorrow, Raytheon would not permit its use because of liability issues stemming from potential eye damage and human rights violations. However, WMR has learned that Raytheon is offering the ADS technology to police departments and as a component of home security alarm systems.

As for my wifi router,, i once put my foot on it because the heat felt good, but then after a while i got strange pains from inside my foot, i realized i was slow cooking my foot!!!
also once i sat with my head right near the router for a while,(by mistake) and got tremendous headache all damn night and most of the next day!

its damn stupid, these routers are low powerd microwave ovens!
i reckon you could cook an egg with one if you left it long enough near the transmitter!

Some time ago I bought a microwave leakage detector from Radio Shack. Might be good to check periodically!!!!

Philadelphia is building a citywide giant wifi network. San Francisco soon to follow.

I disconnected my wi-fi a couple of months ago for this very reason, and have never missed it.

What do you use now?

i cant go back to one pc connected to the net. we all have laptops now. cant use ridiculous patch cables either.

Cables is what everyone should be using.

What's even more absurd is that the latest wifi gear is designed to greatly exceed the capability of your internet connection. In other words, they are useless for most people, probably designed to freeload your neighbors' signal.

WiFi routers are 'too fast' for DSL or Cable, but they are not too fast for p2p on your LAN...The speed is for transfer of data from computer to computer...



As for 'freeloading'...I have an open AP here...My LAN is protected and anyone that wants to jack in is more than welcome...

Yeah...No one transfers info between computers on their LAN...

Also, p2p is when you hook up 2 computers directly to each other. It's not called a network.

Nothing you can't do with cables without compromise.

If your wifi has a 10,000 ft. range then you'll be transferring files with your neighbors, that's my point.

You will feel differently when someone uses your WAP to preform some illegal activity.

You will be the one that has to prove to the authorities that it wasn't you.

This is after your PC's are gone, your house ransacked and your arrest record augmented.

I am very concerned about San Francisco wanting the whole city to be wired for wifi - I think it is really f-k'd up because it is gonna fry the city! They just put a wifi tower a half block away. They inform you and let you go to a meeting about it, but if you say, " I hear these are dangerous" they just ignore you or say it isn't true. The last meeting i went to, I could tell the organizers were ignoring me, so I asked if I sent alot of info about the dangers, would it make any difference in whether they would put up the towers and they said no.

So they have these meetings just to placate the neighborhood, but they could care less about our health

I don't understand why mayor gaving newsome wants to do this. He should know how bad these signals are.... aren't democrats any smarter than that?! Why aren't the lefties protesting this more??

The "alternative" has been around a long while, its called a Cat5e cabled Ethernet LAN. Try to use telephone lines for your LAN and you may as well go back to 51Kbpx phone modems, which will require also a telephone switching network. Ethernet is far far cheaper. The other option is a fiberoptic network, far more expensive than wired Cat5e cable LAN

I could care less if my neighbors steal my files... who could be that bored...they are welcome to them... but Verizon only allows one ISP per line...so the only way we can have two computers online is to have wi fi ... unless we want to pay for another phone line and DSL.

why haven't we heard about this before? WIFI has been out for years now...or is this just another health warning we are all going to ignore (like the cell phones)?

Some would say that these cell phone towers every two to three miles at much higher transmitter powers are a far greater problem than wifi, but as wifi users eventually will be after greater coverage just like cell phones, the wifi stuff will simply be added to the cell phone towers and wifi transceiver powers will go up.

Blockwide Area Networks are now possible as each house on the block can form ad hoc Wifi networks with their neighbors as well. Citywide Area Networks most likely will have to go celluar, as would Countywide and Statewide wifi networks.

Since there are now very very few places where man made radio signals do not go at one frequency or other, it has become very difficult for the average person to really get any good idea as to just whole radio is affecting us.

How many internet cafe's and public libraries are liable for their patrons nefarious activities?

WiFi is just as 'dangerous' as cell-phones, microwave ovens and your cordless 2.4ghz portable phone...

Actually less so, as you don't have the tranceiver stuck up against your head...
