Near the end of my aunts life she swore like sailor which was out of character for her. Quoting: 2hot2handle he had a stroke and I suspect he recently had some mini's because his bp was 215/125. its sad they act like little kids too. Your poor father has suffered brain damage. I don't know what you can do about it. You might want to take him to see someone who specializes in neurological problems or old age and see if they can do anything for him. I don't know if he will agree to that, he's in denial that he needs meds. I'm going to go to the doctor with him at his next appointment. He's taking them but only because he realized my bp monitor and his were not broken. Plus I had a talk with him about whether he wants to find out what will happen with his next stroke or if he would rather prevent it. He agreed to prevent it and I check every day that he takes his meds now. grass fed sardines |

Some of the older generations have all this embedded. The younger generations are much more open minded about other Countries and people in general. I can understand your embarrassment, I have been in similar positions myself. That Chinese lady you were saying about, she might very well be a wonderful person. I dont think it is possible to stop bigoted people from being like that, once it is embedded in them. As newer generations appear, generally ( but by no means totally ), this sort of thing is disappearing. Quoting: Slightly Disgruntled I think she was understanding because I know people from other cultures tend to be racist, she probably had the same problem with her parents but she was married to a white man. She told us how she came to the usa from shanghai when she was 9 and my dad told he goes there to visit. I wanted to tell her to visit his girlfriend. I think he's just not having any luck with these Asian women and he wants one but it's just not working out. Sure, racism is normal for Chinese and probably everyone else, except it's so forbidden for whites. Give him a break, maybe he can teach you something. What he's doing is normal for the rest of the human race. Unlearn your indoctrination and enjoy his lack of inhibition. As for whether this is a symptom of dementia, maybe or maybe not. Maybe he just figured out that everyone else does it (you said you spoke in a different language to him, so he knows more than one culture) and why shouldn't he? . My dad had disowned me a couple of decades ago, and my brother not too long after that. We both pulled out the stops trying to reestablish a relationship with him, but he wasn't having anything to do with us. He passed last year. We were both heartbroken, despite his disowning us. You may not think you're a good daughter, but I do. You're overcoming your own feelings to see that he's taken care of. I think that makes you a champ, and not a loser.... Forgive yourself. One learns cultural intolerance by being forced into close proximity conditions with incompatible cultures. Example: Muslim and Christian Those with a work ethic, like Americans and those without a work ethic, like hispanics. If you've ever been to India, you would understand why. Smart man. I won't eat food touched by them either. Too many of the first and second gen immigrants are filthy pigs when it comes to food and cockroaches IMO. My issue is the disease rates from some countries. Do I really want to eat food handled by first-gen immigrants from a place with sky-high rates of diseases that are highly communicable and difficult or impossible to cure? It's the main thing that turns me off getting delivery. I don't know what lies they told you, but I can promise they were lies. There's a fine line between training, trauma, and torture. |
