Update: Prayers are working. I'm about to be homeless because of the shut down, but I still support our president!

just stay in the apartment until the shutdown is over. pay the landlord month by month until fha starts approving loans again. if i was the landlord, it wouldn't be a big deal to me to let you pay month by month till they get the shutdown settled.
Quoting: Dr. Strangelove I can't. This is a luxury apartment, and I had to pay 2 months rent to break the lease and give a 60 day notice. They already have it booked for a move-in day for someone in 2 weeks. Quoting: Zedakah Then they might be breaking the law. The most they can charge you for is two weeks. They can't double dip if it is occupied. My husband and I have a few rentals and my understanding is according to the law you can only charge a tenant for the unoccupied portion of their lease. Even the two weeks is questionable since it is customary to do some renovation between tenants. I know you don't want to screw the new tenants but it's not your problem. I'd play hardball. Tell them you either get to stay until you need without any further issues or reimbursements or you will report them to HUD and the state.
