SCENE 1: Jesus dialogues with his disciples: The prayer of thanksgiving or the eucharist
One day he was with his disciples in Judea, and he found them gathered together and
seated in pious observance. When he [approached] his disciples, [34] gathered together
and seated and offering a prayer of thanksgiving over the bread, [he] laughed.

The disciples said to [him], “Master, why are you laughing at [our] prayer of
thanksgiving? We have done what is right.”
He answered and said to them, “I am not laughing at you. <You> are not doing this
because of your own will but because it is through this that your god [will be] praised.”
They said, “Master, you are […] the son of our god.”
Jesus said to them, “How do you know me? Truly say to you, no generation of the
people that are among you will know me.”

THE DISCIPLES BECOME ANGRY

When his disciples heard this, they started getting angry and infuriated and began
blaspheming against him in their hearts.
When Jesus observed their lack of [understanding, he said] to them, “Why has this
agitation led you to anger? Your god who is within you and […] [35] have provoked you
to anger [within] your souls. [Let] any one of you who is [strong enough] among human
beings bring out the perfect human and stand before my face.”

They all said, “We have the strength.”
But their spirits did not dare to stand before [him], except for Judas Iscariot. He was
able to stand before him, but he could not look him in the eyes, and he turned his face
away.

Judas [said] to him, “I know who you are and where you have come from. You are
from the immortal realm of Barbelo. And I am not worthy to utter the name of the one
who has sent you.”

JESUS DISCUSSES THE DESTRUCTION OF THE WICKED WITH JUDAS AND OTHERS

dwell in this [flesh] among the generations of angels. But God caused knowledge to be
[given] to Adam and those with him, so that the kings of chaos and the underworld might
not lord it over them.”
Judas said to Jesus, “So what will those generations do?”

Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, for all of them the stars bring matters to completion.
When Saklas completes the span of time assigned for him, their first star will appear with
the generations, and they will finish what they said they would do. Then they will
fornicate in my name and slay their children [55] and they will […] and [—about six and
a half lines missing—] my name, and he will […] your star over the [thir]teenth aeon.”

After that Jesus [laughed].
[Judas said], “Master, [why are you laughing at us]?”
[Jesus] answered [and said], “I am not laughing [at you] but at the error of the stars,
because these six stars wander about with these five combatants, and they all will be
destroyed along with their creatures.”

the truth of jesus and his gnosis or knowledge has been hated since the early christian church emerged it has been attempted to be destroyed and hidden.

it is a miracle that any of it survived at all.

Religious officials, who were not pleased with such freedom and independence, condemned the gnostics as heretical and a threat to the well-being and
good order of organized religion. Heresiologists—heresy hunters of a bygone
age who busied themselves exposing people judged dangerous to the Christian masses—fulminated against what they maintained was the falsehood of
the gnostics. Nonetheless, from the challenge of this perceived threat came
much of the theological reflection that has characterized the intellectual history of the Christian church

The historical roots of the gnostics reach back into the time of the Greeks,
Romans, and Second Temple Jews. Some gnostics were Jewish, others GrecoRoman, and many were Christian. There were Mandaean gnostics from Iraq
and Iran; Manichaeans from Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and all
the way to China; Islamic gnostics in the Muslim world; and Cathars in western Europe. The heyday of their influence extends from the second century CE
through the next several centuries. Their influence and their presence, some
say, continue to the present day.
Gnostics sought knowledge and wisdom from many different sources,
and they accepted insight wherever it could be found. Like those who came
before them, they embraced a personified wisdom, Sophia, understood variously and taken as the manifestation of divine insight. To gain knowledge of
the deep things of god, gnostics read and studied diverse religious and philosophical texts. In addition to Jewish sacred literature, Christian documents,
and Greco-Roman religious and philosophical texts, gnostics studied religious works from the Egyptians, Mesopotamians, Zoroastrians, Muslims, and
Buddhists. All such sacred texts disclosed truths, and all were to be celebrated
for their wisdom.

Gnostics loved to explore who they were and from where they had come,
and hence they read creation stories such as the opening chapters of Genesis
with vigor and enthusiasm. Like others, they recognized that creation stories
not only claim to describe what was, once upon a time, but also suggest what
is, now, in our own world. The gnostics carried to their reading a conviction
that the story of creation was not a happy one. There is, they reasoned,
something fundamentally wrong with the world, there is too much evil and
pain and death in the world, and so there must have been something wrong
with creation.

The role of the gnostic savior or revealer is to awaken people who are under
the spell of the demiurge—not, as in the case of the Christ of the emerging orthodox church, to die for the salvation of people, to be a sacrifice for sins, or to
rise from the dead on Easter. The gnostic revealer discloses knowledge that
frees and awakens people, and that helps them recall who they are. When enlightened, gnostics can live a life appropriate for those who know themselves
and god. They can return back to the beginning, when they were one with god.
Such a life transcends what is mundane and mortal in this world and experiences the bliss of oneness with the divine. As the divine forethought, or Christ,
in the Secret Book of John says to a person—every person—in the pit of the
underworld, "I am the forethought of pure light, I am the thought of the virgin spirit, who raises you to a place of honor. Arise, remember that you have
heard, and trace your root, which is I, the compassionate."
Gnostic literature includes a typical cast of spiritual or mythological figures and realms, but they are referred to by different names.
Above and beyond all is the transcendent deity. In the Book of Baruch this
deity is called the Good and is identified with the fertility god Priapos. In the
Secret Book of John and elsewhere this deity is called the One, or monad, as
well as the invisible spirit, virgin spirit, and father. It is said that the One
should not be confused with a god, since it is greater than a god. Elsewhere the
transcendent is called the boundless, depth, majesty, light. Poimandres reveals
itself as the light, mind, first god. Mandaeans call this deity the great life and
lord of greatness, Manichaeans the father of greatness, Muslim mystics the exalted king, Cathars the invisible father, true god, good god.

"Simon was a Samaritan, and a native of Gitta. The name of his father was Antonius, that of his mother Rachel. He studied Greek literature in Alexandria, and, having in addition to this great power in magic, became so ambitious that he wished to be considered a highest power, higher even than the God who created the world. And sometimes he "darkly hinted" that he himself was Christ, calling himself the Standing One. Which name he used to indicate that he would stand for ever, and had no cause in him for bodily decay. He did not believe that the God who created the world was the highest, nor that the dead would rise. He denied Jerusalem, and introduced Mount Gerizim in its stead. In place of the Christ of the Christians he proclaimed himself; and the Law he allegorized in accordance with his own preconceptions. He did indeed preach righteousness and judgment to come.

"There was one John the Baptist, who was the forerunner of Jesus in accordance with the law of parity; and as Jesus had twelve Apostles, bearing the number of the twelve solar months, so had he thirty leading men, making up the monthly tale of the moon. One of these thirty leading men was a woman called Helen, and the first and most esteemed by John was Simon. But on the death of John he was away in Egypt for the practice of magic, and one Dositheus, by spreading a false report of Simon's death, succeeded in installing himself as head of the sect. Simon on coming back thought it better to dissemble, and, pretending friendship for Dositheus, accepted the second place. Soon, however, he began to hint to the thirty that Dositheus was not as well acquainted as he might be with the doctrines of the school.

"The encounter between both Dositheus and Simon Magus was the beginnings of the sect of Simonians. The narrative goes on to say that Simon, having fallen in love with Helen, took her about with him, saying that she had come down into the world from the highest heavens, and was his mistress, inasmuch as she was Sophia, the Mother of All. It was for her sake, he said, that the Greeks and Barbarians fought the Trojan War, deluding themselves with an image of truth, for the real being was then present with the First God. By such allegories Simon deceived many, while at the same time he astounded them by his magic. A description is given of how he made a familiar spirit for himself by conjuring the soul out of a boy and keeping his image in his bedroom, and many instances of his feats of magic are given..."

"Cain and Abel
He tells us that the Cainites regarded Cain as derived from the higher principle. They claimed fellowship with Esau, Korah, the men of Sodom, and all such people, and regarded themselves as on that account persecuted by the Creator. But they escaped injury from him, for Sophia used to carry away from them to herself that which belonged to her.

He speaks of Abel as derived from the weaker principle—a statement which bears the marks of authenticity...

He therefore, rather than the other disciples, was able to accomplish the mystery of the betrayal, and so bring about the dissolution of all things both celestial and terrestrial. The Cainites possessed a work entitled The Gospel of Judas, and Irenaeus says that he had himself collected writings of theirs, where they advocated that the work of Hystera should be dissolved. By Hystera they meant the Maker of Heaven and Earth.

There is no doubt that they applauded the action of Judas in the betrayal..."

Christ Came

Christ came [53] to purchase some, to save some, to redeem some. He purchased strangers and made them his own, and he brought back his own whom he had laid down of his own will as a deposit. Not only when he appeared did he lay the soul of his own will as a deposit, but from the beginning of the world he laid down the soul, for the proper moment, according to his will. Then he came forth to take it back, since it had been laid down as a deposit. It had fallen into the hands of robbers and had been stolen, but he saved it. And he redeemed the good in the world, and the bad.

The Rulers and the Holy Spirit

The rulers thought they did all they did by their own power and will, but the holy spirit was secretly accomplishing all through them by the spirit’s will.
