2FA is security theater. People get all smug and complacent when their accounts are protected by 2FA, until they get hacked regardless.

If people would stop using "password" and "jesus" as their passwords for damn near EVERYTHING, then a substantial percentage of hacks that are successful due to Grade A stupidity would not take place.

Now Microsoft, the poster child for poor security, wants to provide people with 2FA? No thank you. Microsoft's only interest is how to maximize profits from every user.

Give me a laptop drive encrypted with an AES-XTS 512-bit key and a good, solid 16+ character passphrase over 2FA anytime.
