Riff-Raff DEFCON 4 User ID: 76340466 United States 01/04/2019 08:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 2FA is security theater. People get all smug and complacent when their accounts are protected by 2FA, until they get hacked regardless. If people would stop using "password" and "jesus" as their passwords for damn near EVERYTHING, then a substantial percentage of hacks that are successful due to Grade A stupidity would not take place. Now Microsoft, the poster child for poor security, wants to provide people with 2FA? No thank you. Microsoft's only interest is how to maximize profits from every user. Give me a laptop drive encrypted with an AES-XTS 512-bit key and a good, solid 16+ character passphrase over 2FA anytime. Jungleboogie User ID: 76648271 Canada 01/04/2019 09:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You can now create a Microsoft account without a password. Instead, you just provide your phone number. When you sign into Windows 10 with that phone number, Microsoft will text you a code that you enter on the sign-in screen. After that, you can use Windows Hello to set up a PIN, fingerprint, or face login method. You never have to type a password—your account doesn’t even have one! And you don’t have to enter a code sent via text every time you sign in, either. You only have to receive a code on your phone when you sign in on a new PC. Quoting: Baal Molech [link to www.howtogeek.com (secure)] That will be abused oh-so-badly by the Alphabet agencies and other entities. The only thing this is good for is data sniffing by MSN and its globalist masters to help identify people like us basically. Embrace the cognitive dissonance. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77335283 United States 03/12/2019 11:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's all for monitoring your computer activities. Quoting: NM 156 With a generic login/password, all they know is a local user is on the computer. With 2FA they know it's YOU and they can monitor/track what YOU are doing. Retinal AND biometric scans are next on the path to 1984, without them you won't be able to get on the matrix. Linux if you want to remain semi-anonymous. THIS! Who wants to buy and maintain a burner phone for every single login ID you have? If you don't do that, all your activity is tied together. I despise the fingerprint and facial shit. Give me a 20 digit password anytime. No problem. Banks are going to 2FA, and it's OK, but never for social or email. Why bother with 2FA for email when the damn systems are all cleartext anyway? |
