Well they are said to be 80% of the population, in which case cutting ties would be pretty hard. I hope they dont make up 80% of the population, cause that would be really scary  There are many and they are energy harvesting. So you have to learn to recognize them. How do you personally go about recognizing them? To me they are the haters, the perpetual whiners, the ones who always beg for your time, the ones that just lacking depth in general. But it's hard to know for sure, since even a souled person can act like that. Ask one about their opinion of a complicated subject. meh
