The Third uglier Kind of Prepper

any smart prepper would move to mexico!

After the TEOTWAWKI Event/ the 4 stages of recovery.
I know that there are traditional recovery plans, but what I'm going to concentrate on is a recovery plan from a teotwawki event where nobody is coming to save you.

The traditional recovery plan for local events will not work in a SHTF scenario because it depends on help coming from nearby cities and towns. It has 7 stages listed at the link above.

The events in todays news are a sign that things are about to take an abrupt turn for the worst, I like many people "feel" it coming.

Weather it's global, nationwide, or regional it's upon Us and I don't think it can be avoided any longer. I have for years been prepping for this time, as many people have, at this point the actual event is not as important to me as is what comes after.

In a SHTF event, It will be very important to keep as low of a profile as possible,
the first 12 to 18 months will be when most of the people survive or die.

People will die from hunger, disease, fighting others,and because of everyday things,
like a cut becoming infected.

Only by controling who knows; what you have, where you are, and what your routine is, will
give you a better chance at survival.

There won't be an internet to look up the information of " that guy you met online" or the article
you read on making xxxxxx whatever ( so print copies now).



It is very important to blend in at the early stages of a shtf event. you will need to act as if you have nothing and don't know what's going on.


At the start of the event Governments will try to maintain order, give out supplies, and information. You should go to civic meetings, food shelters, and other gatherings to find out who is calling the shots and what their plan is.


These people who think that they are in charge often will make decisions that are short sighted and dangerous.
When the food supplies runout at the store they will automatically think of confiscating others supplies as a fast short term solution to the problem.


Be careful about what you tell people and if needed spread disinformation to those who pry or press for answers.
If you are aware of the discussions at a townhall meeting then you can suggest ways of meeting the food and water needs before it becomes a problem, and if the decision is made to confiscate supplies, then you will have time to hide your resources before they come.


In the months following an event, people will be the biggest danger and not just strangers. It will most likely be the people you know, we all have that one friend or family member who speaks without thinking or dosen't pay attention to who might be listening.

What I am going to talk about is recovery after a SHTF type of situation.


The events in todays news are a sign that things are about to take an abrupt turn for the worst, I like many people "feel" it coming. From time to time the forest must burn to get rid of dead wood and make room for new growth.

There are 4 stages as I as see it to the collapse and recovery cycle.
1st Stage is the event or events leading to a situation that is beyond the point of recovery. (to normal life as we know it)
In this stage which last form 30 to 90 days there is still some order, some food, some sense that things will return to normal. People will be in shock as they begin to realize the world they knew is gone. The event may have taken out whole crops and make the environment difficult to raise another.




2nd Stage is WROL(without rule of law) this stage lasts between 3 months and 3 years. When people realize there is no law, and no civil order then "capital" crimes will sky rocket.

People will settle old scores, and take things that they think they deserve, to include rape of women who rejected and belittled them, or killing the ex husband who used to abuse them. This will not be a time when morals or ethics restrain actions of desperate people. In this time you won't get into arguments you will get into gunfights.

The 3rd Stage of the cycle takes place when the dust starts to settle between 3 to 8 years after the event. During this time groups of survivors live a tribal type of existence, where farming and hunting skills help to keep the group alive.



At this time of the cycle groups will still keep contact with other groups to a minimum with some trade.
Other survivors with skill sets such as medical training,
blacksmiths, will start to rebuild the tools necessary for towns to begin to develop.





those with some engineering knowledge could salvage some of what was left behind, and with some work repair things to get basic utilities running a simple methane digester could provide fuel or a generator for electricity and cooking/ heating. Teachers could begin to teach children the 3R's that is essential for the 4th stage.





The 4th stage takes place after the 3rd stage is well established between 8 and 20 years after the event. trade between towns and settlements, rules that are understood between leaders sometimes this takes longer but will eventually become common practice in regions and the rebirth of City States were people refer to themselves as Roman, or Spartan ect.


I realize that this is just my basic plan and there are tons of specific things to add to the plan. my goal is to set the framework up for people just getting started.

We're in our place. It's quiet at the end of a 10 mile road with another 2000 foot driveway straight up the mountain.

This third type of prepper will have difficulty out here. Everyone is armed to the teeth. Every weekend you can hear target practice (sometimes full auto, too!)

Anyone who attempts to "over run" a neighbor will likely get a tour of their gun collection.

I plan on surviving by cooking and eating marauders.

I 've heard of him, but haven't read any of his books. Thanks I'll try to find some on amazon.

My personal view of what a Marauder will look like is a meth-head/ beggar, they will ask if you can spare a buck while looking at your watch. You can see the gears working in their mind (if I just grab that watch … and run... that way).

It is a good scare video, for those who are asleep.
Mostly it is garbage.

The likelihood of running vehicles is very low. gasoline and such fuels will deplete quickly or degrade to where they are no longer usable.
Electricity will disappear just as quickly, as will electronic equipment, security lights and cameras
Conveniently no mention is made of defeating animal security systems, such as dogs, geese, etc.

Logistically, to keep a larger band of Marauders (like the video implies), both fed and supplied would require attacking only large targets, like former military bases or cities. Or other groups of Marauders after they finished attacking something.

Smaller groups of Marauders might bother preppers. But these are more likely to be loosely organized former street gang types. Not well trained, coordinated groups with military style training and leadership and tactics.

Outside of cities or towns, it would be nearly impossible to locate preppers and improbable to be logistically worth the effort involved.

All very good points, but older diesel vehicles can run on used vegi. oil, solar and wind will provide some electricity , but your right about everything else. Finding those who have these resources will be next to impossible

Then there is the 4th type of prepper...the browbeaters.

These are friends and family members who wont prep, they mock you for prepping...but when TSHTF they will come knocking & they wont stop.

They will try to guilt trip you out of every resource you have (even your TP) & if you give it to them...they will hate you for not having prepped even more FOR THEM!

They will brow beat you & guilt trip you & bring their kids to show you their pathetic hungry faces...and tell you what a filthy piece of shit you are for allowing children to starve.

Be ready for it...it WILL happen!

Yes. This is a very real threat that warrants some planning. I have found the solution long ago. I would recommend others prepare for the same, of course appropriate for your situation.

My plan includes a secret fall back rally point where the stores are kept. Everyone will be expecting to find me (and my supplies) at another place.

they will come and I will make them work and work and work, until they want to leave, All of them know and have been told if the shtf and, you come here you will do as your told or gtfo. I will shoot them myself, before I let them endanger me and mine, if they come they are second class citizens with no say or vote on ANYTHING period.

small cache points are better than one large one, that way if your being watched and followed you won't lead them to all of your stockpile.

I was one of the best prepared people anywhere to deal with SHTF, spent 25+ years training and prepping. I trained people in survival and unconventional warfare. I had all the skill, knowledge and gear plus a place to ride everything out. Then you get sick and become disabled in a few short weeks.

Survival tip: there's always something you never planned for.

All that training is now worthless. Glad I did it and had fun but for helping those I care for get through a real disaster? I'm worse than useless - a burden.

They'll walk straight into your stash room & start picking out what they deserve! Of course that will be the best of the best!

They wont get it...until you shoot one of them...THAT is what it will take.

So don't let them in in the first place!
