Wow, nice work.
All those trends make sense to me. No wonder I despise most movies lately.
Funny that escapism in the 70s was disaster flicks (Airport stands out, personally) and now it's fantasy.
I wonder what role the FX capabilities have to do with that, or if it's more of a cultural shift.
Quoting: Fret Wiz FX definitely had an effect on the rise of action and super hero movies. I also think maybe people are burnt out on disaster flicks post-2k and 2012. They're better than ever with the FX, too. I only watch those for the FX, the writing is still horrible for those movies. Think you have to go back to like the 70s for ok stories when it comes to disaster flicks.
