American University in Washington, D.C., is sponsoring a multisession seminar next month aimed at getting faculty to battle against "white language supremacy" and consider "alternative" grading standards for students' writing — such as "labor-based grading contracts."

that is edu speak does anyone understand what that means?

I found this:

1. Focus on Ideas (Not Mistakes). Forget about the pressure to be perfect. Because you are graded on labor, mistakes won’t undermine your grade.

2. Write for Yourself (Not for Me). Don’t worry about writing to impress me, as your teacher. You need to develop your own sense of what makes writing effective in your field.

3. Take Risks (Don’t Play It Safe). Why? Taking risks won’t count against you.

4. Have a Do-Over (No Penalty). If you take a risk and it doesn’t turn out, you can always try again. If your writing group or I ask you to revise, there is no impact on your grade.

5. Put In the Effort (No Pain, No Gain). All your work counts toward your course grade, as long as you listen to feedback from your classmates and me,
