They are being over cautious, they have to be.

As soon as one person says the saw a drone, the whole airport gets shutdown.

They really got to ban drones use anywhere near airports. Heathrow is one of the world's airports with the most incoming/outgoing traffic.

Yep, even just a lightweight super strong metal component that could chobble through turbine blades could be catastrophic. They have to be sure and safe about this issue because lives depend on it.

Plus it could be jihadis scouting or testing security etc?
