More veterinarians need to start watching for this; a surprising number don't think of it. Poor kitty cats. I know it rather goes against the natural grain, but we can't let our cats just hunt how they please anymore. The birds might have bird flu and the rodents might have plague - and if our cats are the larger variety, a lot of bigger game has wasting disease, which is like CJD: mad cow. Keep them away from Third World shitheads too: who knows how much nasty pestilence they're carrying around? They all have at least parasites like chaga or Zika or AIDS. |

Quoting: keybored The cat was known to wander the area near its home and, when it showed worrying symptoms, samples were sent for testing. Bubonic plague infection was confirmed by the lab at the University of Wyoming shortly thereafter. The cat fully recovered from the infection, according to a spokesperson for the Wyoming Department of Health, and with modern antibiotics and treatment, plague infections pose no major threat – certainly nothing close to the ‘Black Death’ which wiped out millions of people during the Middle Ages. Quoting: Lily o' the Valley Too bad the kitties got sick. It completely wiped out prairie dog populations all over Wyoming and Colorado. They are constantly worried about it spreading to people’s pets. Good! People worship pets. Animals are filthy, they do not bathe daily nor clean up after their bodily functions. Pets are nasty. I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

It happens anytime there's good rainfall, the rodents have lots of food so they breed and larger populations increase the chances for the occasional outbreak, wildfires will keep them in check though. |

LogicalReason User ID: 73605641 United States 01/19/2019 09:53 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Bubonic Plague is no threat to masses of people in modern society like it was hundreds of years ago before sanitary sewer and water systems existed. The bacteria has to physically touch you and was normally transferred by rats and their fleas. People who are infected with the plague bacteria now can be saved with antibiotics but still may require some amputation if they were not treated early Think About It. |
