Building emergency supplies should be the foundation for anyone that is preparing for any type of SHTF event.

You can only survive 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food.

the only way to increase your survivability is to be self-sufficient.

One great option for off-grid cooking is a solar oven. You can simply place these ovens in the sun with your food placed inside. Then let it cook. This won’t produce smoke and won’t need to gather wood.

Most of those who wish to bring down America reside in the inner cities. So you should stay away from these areas especially if the tensions continue to increase. The inner cities will be the first target of attacks in a civil war.

Bugging out should only the last possible option because of the dangers associated with it.

You should have at least 4 possible bug out locations. These locations should be in 4 different directions. That way if SHTF in the south then you can still head north, east or west.

You won’t be able to rely on your credit/debit card to make transactions. Instead, you should always have some emergency cash on hand. I recommend having at least 6 to 8 months’ worth of expenses.

Get physically fit

in any SHTF or bug out scenario, it will be the survival of the fittest. In a civil war, there is going to be a lot of fighting and fleeing.

Unlike the first civil war in America, there won’t be rules of engagement. I believe that one side will be going through neighborhoods to loot and to kill. So you will have to fight or flee.

the average person can only walk 15 miles per day. To get into shape I recommend starting off small with short walks. Then week by week continue to increase the distance and intensity.

You can even practice bugging out by carrying your bug out bag on these exercises. This will help to give you a good idea of how far you can really walk with 25 to 50 pounds on your back. It will also give you the ability to measure how heavy your bug out bag should be.

No man is an island. Lone wolves don’t live long. As humans, we were created to thrive off of relationships.

There is also strength in numbers. So I would recommend forming a neighborhood crime watch. This will help bring your community together in case such an event happens.

Now, I know a lot of us are patriots and love to showcase our patriotism. However, this also puts a target on our back for those wish to destroy this country. If SHTF they will remember your patriotism and target you before others.

Also, you could witness in fighting between military forces aand police officers.

The problem is that if a Civil War starts in America, it will become a SHTF scenario real quick.
In which case only survival skills will help you. You better plan to bug out and ditch most of the crap the op suggests.
Light and mobile is the key, as well as multi functional equipment.

I suggest:
1 handgun, 1 rifle, of a commonly used caliber and up to several hundred rounds of ammo.
Bow and arrows or cross bow are good options also

A good full tang knife and either a machete or tomahawk or hand ax.
To build a shelter or fires (for heat or cooking), you will need one of the last items.

A Tent or shelter, a canteen, a pot, a back pack and some good boots and a change of clothes. A good Hat or some kind of head covering.
A wash cloth and or small towel and some soap should be included.
About 50 ft or so of para cord is good to have along. so many uses for it

A good knowledge of the area and its resources or a good set of maps.
A good med kit, not just a first aid kit, and know how to use it.

A pack of playing cards and a book or Bible.( you will have to fight depression and/ or boredom at times, so these items are a must)

Everything else you might need like seeds, short term food or other survival necessities depends upon your plan of action and the area you are bugging out to.
Everybody is different with different needs, no one plan or outline fits everyone or every situation.
But skip the electronic and the solar crap, etc, it won't last long. Water filter will not last long either. So prepare for the long term.

I'm not quite ready prep wise. Physically i'm pretty fit, mentally I know exactly who needs to be taken out first.

Good solid advice. With one potential exception. If you're in an actual city, I think you should get out asap. As a general rule, of course. Depending on what's actually happening in your area. It could be less safe to bail than to stay if you have to go through rioting and fires to get out.

But, if you have a chance to leave safely, you'd be better off at a secure bug out than in a populated area.

Rosewood is deep rural. We want to quarantine there because we expect the highways to be covered both sides in vehicles. Maybe it won't be that many, but Y2K brought a load and this time, they will not be leaving in 2 days to go back home. They will be there indefinately and spreading noro.

I would leave the urban too, pox on who tried to stop me! But people should plan ahead, visit places, know a farm or private place first if you can. Just "out there" is a LOT less secure than on private property with local people. Local people will handle you better too, whereas it will be a mixed bag on the highway. Churches will be up there passing stuff out, wildens will be selling everything guns, liquor, speed and women they can and pirates? Who knows? Some of those guys are the kind to sell you a good thing cheap in daylight, come back at night and take it. Sell again. Only about a third of them are very mayberry. Bunch of urba savages, foriegners and wildens mixed in.

(Had a dream I was there at a cave shelter with a couple of the bandits when dallas went up. When we went inside, they were black birds but then turned into people. I always figured that meant dealers would reform to respond to the situation, like passive people will turn monkey nuts because they don't know anything else to do.)

Being prepared doesn't require a reason. It could be a natural disaster, an EMP attack, or a civil war. Prepared is prepared. The longer you can hold out, the better your chances of survival. Having a few months supplies is great, but self sufficiency is better. Any long term disruption will require defending your preps, and your survival plan.

If a civil war is coming, the decision is, fight here, or go somewhere else to fight for what you believe in. The snowflakes wont want to get out of the cities, and I don't care if they destroy all the urban areas, so it all boils down to where the military lines up.

In one study, almost three quarters of military personnel said they would not obey an unconstitutional order to disarm the American public. The leadership is still in question, they just want to fight wars. As long as it's not their blood, they don't mind. Many are patriots, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will bite the hand that feeds them. They are responsible for American troops fighting all over the world (mostly in places that we should never have been in the first place).

I recall watching a TV show when I was a teen back in the early 80’s about future prophecy. They talked about Nostradamus, and many others. One that got me was (and this is a damn close paraphrase): they said the Talmud predicted that the US would be unable to come to Israel’s aid because we’d fall to internal economic strife and race wars.
