I don't disagree with the points that you are making, but I disagree with the argument, and the focus, that your points take. Fluid sex? Ridiculous. Promiscuity, pedopushing, all of it is disgusting. The abuse of ANY substance is a problem, and has been since before the bible was written, and I don't know what the answer is.
But here is where the problem with your position lies... your issue is not with marijuana, it's with HUMAN NATURE. I notice you don't talk about ALCOHOL and sex, or HEROIN and sex, which are FAR more prevalent and problematic. The issue is with substance abuse in GENERAL, along with so many other ridiculous ideas having to do with gender, biology, etc. But somehow you have wrapped the two together in your mind, and you're attacking the wrong thing.
Drawing a line in the sand? I APPLAUD that you do! Take care of your children, protect them the best you can, and do everything in your power to make sure they are safe and well. But does taking medicine from someone protect your child? No. Does alcohol prohibition save them? Do you rail at people walking into bars because alcohol could make your daughter have sex one day? NO, because that would be foolish. Do you castigate other members of the PTA for having valium, as YOUR child may one day abuse it with help from THEIR child? Again, no, because the SOURCE of the issue is NOT valium.
You see the logical fallacy in your argument? You are blaming a relatively harmless substance, which ABSOLUTELY can be abused, for a societal shift. But therein lies the issue - CANNABIS has nothing to do with that, the same as heroin, Xanax, Budweiser or Tequila have nothing to do with it. Your fears are well-founded, just misplaced.
And I have nothing to ask forgiveness for. Or, more accurately, I have MANY things to ask forgiveness for, but the god you believe in has no right to absolve me for those things. And I've never expected marijuana to "save" me, just as I've never expected Tylenol or Twinkies to save me. It is an intoxicant like any other, albeit one of the safest known to man, and not physically addictive in any way, though any addictive personality can get addicted to ANYTHING. If I had to see a youth use ANYTHING, I would consider cannabis the safest alternative.. and then ABSOLUTELY stop them from using it until legally able to make those decisions.
And that is one of the issues that legalization SOLVES for... the abuse and underage distribution of pot. In places where weed is illegal it is WAY easier for kids to access it than in places where it is legal and regulated, so one would think you would be in favour of this.
Treat marijuana JUST like alcohol, divest you mind of your moral and confused view based on a lifetime of legal suppression, and look at the FACTS. Please believe that I support you 100% in the protection of your kids - just be sure that you are protecting them from the right things, before it's too late.
