will birds be wonky because of the pole shift? He only did this one time but that whole day he seemed a little off balance.

I strongly recommend taking your bird to the vet.

They fall sometimes, but if your bird spent the whole day being off balance, that's not normal.

he seems fine now, this was a couple days ago and we haven't had any incident since then.

I'm considering getting one of these harnesses so he doesn't get lost during the pole shift.

We have a harness like that for our parrot.

In the beginning she fussed with it to try to remove it, but now she behaves like a dog seeing a leash whenever we get it out. She knows it means she's going outside for a walk perched on my hubby's shoulder.

True, that's possible if your bird was standing on unstable ground.
