OK, so that is why they get an H1-B to work in the US temporarily.

So why should these skilled H1-B immigrants should not only be allowed to work temporarily, but also to obtain citizenship which will allow them and their extended families to remain permanently?

All this time President Trump never ever said immigrants were a problem. He said ILLEGAL immigration is a problem.

Congratulations. Once they are allowed to stay and move on to management positions, if your son or daughter is now in college is more likely to have a boss named Kumar.

He also said he was going to do something about the h1b abuse. They have displaced a lot of American workers, and that is not what h1b was intended for.

So now there will not only be H1-B visas, but they will be allowed to stay as citizens and bring in their extended family as well.

I think there is the potential to screw over the big corporations that use this H1-B labor. They like it because they have a pool of workers that have no rights and that they can exploit. A modern tech slave labor force.

If these talented people aren't non citizens with no standing and no ability to change jobs if they aren't treated right, and instead can compete outside of the contract they were hired for, then the big corporations lose their slaves that came here to take jobs that used to pay 55,000 and work for 12,000. The big corporations won't be able to treat people that way anymore. (maybe)

All of which will be eligible for the new citizens to sponsor in, no skills or education required.

Not true, the President has said multiple times that he wants to put and END to chain migration.

If you want to bring family members over you will have to prove that you are able to support them. Under Obama every family member could come over and join the free shit army. Just look at Dearborn, MI.

Part of trumps plan has always been ending chain migration and the visa lottery. which means they can bring their wives and any minor children. But not the extended family. which will be less each year than the visa lottery.

How does this benefit America when it is putting Americans out of work?
The H1-B program only benefits the wealthy class, not the working class.

Unfortunately, there's no choice but some sort of path to citizenship for the millions that are already here. The problem is too big. You can't go round them all up. What you can do, as an example, is seal the border first, then have them all register, give them a time frame (1 year or something), put them at the back of the line. In the mean time, they have to go through the same citizenship requirements everyone else has to, etc, etc. For the ones that fail to register, after whatever time frame, and they get caught (pulled over, etc) they get deported. Maybe give them extra time to register if they have a legal resident sponsor. Or something.
Point is, it's not perfect, but we are were we are. It's a path to citizenship, but not an amnesty at all. It's humane and fair.
Just an idea.

When the program is reformed it will operate like every other country. A non-citizen can be hired if no other citizens are available to fill the position. Try to get a job in Europe as an American.
