Re: President Trump: "H1-B holders in the United States can rest assured that changes are soon coming -- including a potential path to citizenship.
I actually have an interesting perspective. I am a Network Engineer for a company which is about 90% immigrant. I don't know what numbers are full citizens or visa's, but I do get to hear a story every day, about their personal history.

There different types of immigrants and based on the many conversations I've had with these very lovely people, you can have a variety of scenarios.

1: Visa holder doesn't much like America, if they hold dual citizenship they may try to have a home in several countries, but it's still taxed in America. Even once they become full citizens there's no law stopping them. They often have to choose rather stay or go, not because American law, but the foreign country has no interest in working with them.

2: Every Visa, or permanent citizen or resident will send a lot of money back to their home country. Many, many thousands. It's just the way it works. America is the land of opportunity, and they won't forget their family.

3: Yes you can bring your family, the US has forms you can fill out and it actually does encourage chain migration if it's immediate family. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, but its a simple reality.

4: Most of them believe in making America great, again. Although they want to help their family in each respective country, they don't plan on leaving once they're here. And they hate illegal immigration.

Take it for what it is, if you want to close the borders and just only hire Americans and have a natural born American workforce, then go for it. But those for this are actually right. My immigrant co-workers tell me that other countries do not work this way most of the time. Getting a job as a foreigner is extremely hard, and getting citizenship is impossible. As a result, other countries have an ethnically pure workforce and this often sounds attractive to isolationists.
I see now, the right has a clear confliction regarding this.
Isolationists want to hire purely natural born American workers, and not embrace others. Often it's suggested that we can take the best and skilled, but if you're a pure isolationist, you will believe the best is right here and it's not necessary. I think the right is going to have a hard time keeping the base happy if the base includes deep isolationists.
 Quoting: TheocracyofGod

"isolationist" is just another manipulative, dishonest buzzword. Are the Japanese isolationists? No, they trade with the whole world. Wanting to preserve American society/culture, albeit the degraded/debauched thing it has become, is not isolationism. Old China which closed itself off from the world completely was isolationist.
 Quoting: aquanet

I'm referring to extreme isolationism. There are various degrees of any ideoloy, that doesn't necessarily have to suggest the extreme ideology of any situation. But on the other hand, there are others who support only the extreme of that ideology.

I don't think all isolationists have the same ideological aproach to trade and mmigration, that's why words like extreme, hard, and purists are used to gauge these ideologies.
 Quoting: TheocracyofGod

No, you referred to people who are just trying to preserve their country and culture as isolationists. There are no degrees to isolation. When have you ever heard any American say that they don't want any contact with others outside the U.S.? No travel, no trade, no communication. I never have. You'd have to look long and hard for someone like that.

Stop using Marxist socially-manipulative buzzwords.

What’s wrong with Americans first for American jobs?

How many countries do you see importing American workers and giving them special treatment?

Everyone has been fed the line and are parroting “but it’s ok if foreigner workers take American jobs as long as they contribute and as long as everything is legal.” Try explaining that to the fired Disney employees who had to train their replacements.

America first period! Especially when it comes to putting food on the table for your family.

Phase out the H1-B program until Americans are trained to do those jobs. Don’t bring it back unless our unemployment numbers reach 0%. (Which will never happen) Stop educating and training people who have no loyalty to America and who’s only real goal is to get their family to America.

Since it is a government program- the employer should have to PROVE they cannot get enough US workers to fill jobs before allowing them to hire H1 workers- then they should be required to pay them the same and give them equal benefits as their US employees in the same job capacity. They should get no government benefit for hiring them. They certainly should not be allowed to fire Americans in order to hire them. How absurd it all is.

Well, maybe I am such an "isolationist" that I am impractical, but I don't really want foreigners to own US property, businesses or resources. I definitely want to be a great and prosperous nation- but with all our resources- we should be able to have an abundance of almost everything- including more than enough to barter with parts of the world that have the few things we need that are not in enough abundance here. We are blessed with most resources.
Also, I don't want to continue all this mindless building. Find uses for the land itself. Encourage farming. Kill Monsanto.
 Quoting: Far Away

We already grow so much food that we can't use or export it all and we have surplus for lots of food stamp type programs. These are good in a limited amount, but beyond that they create dependency and encourage illegal immigration, so we really don't need more excess food.

Reducing use of pesticides like Roundup and GMO seed would probably help by reducing farm productivity somewhat. But we don't need more farming, we have enough.

H1-B visas are called the "Silent Invasion". This is how the global pirates have been slowly changing professional US demographics for 30 years. Most H1b holders are DOCTORS NOT ENGINEERS and this is why our med system has been taken over. They come here and NEVER LEAVE.

I could not get a medical residency because THEY only hire their own,,,im stuck with useless MD degree.

I lost my job in Computer science due to a group of Indians undercutting my department by working for less than 4$ per hour.

Absolutely. and many have to train their replacements, which is so galling! Totally against this H1-B shit, we should be reducing or eliminating this. America can produce all it needs we don't need to be importing foreigners.

I know a cop in a small town in upstate New York.
He is a one man protection army for his incorporated village.
What few jobs there are, are held by white Americans.
If anyone hires a mud, bad things happen to both, the company and the employee.
Windshields shatter. Tires blow out. Sometimes there are fires. Parking lots turn up seriously damaged overnight.
Tickets pile up for court dates that cannot possibly be met and keep jobs. Inspectors show up suddenly at businesses.
Sometimes the IRS.

Eventually the mud gives up and leaves town. Or is arrested and imprisoned.
Same for blacks who move in. His girlfriend works in a bank.
The only bank. You can imagine what sort of mayhem can be
caused with corporate accounts that are identified as
anti-American.

This is not Christian behavior, of course, but there are no kidnappings, rapes, robberies, gangs, or other third world cultural standards in this town. Children are safe. It's about 60 miles from NYC ground zero. The economy is really, really stable. No welfare needed by anyone.

Just sayin' there are methodologies. And who would have imagined the wild west would have survived in upstate NY.

^^This right here is how people used to take care of things in their own communities and it worked very well for members of that community. Maybe it is Christian behavior.

I knew that had once been the case. I guess I am going more by where I live in north Texas. A lot of land around me was farm/ranch land. Now, there are few farmers and former farm land is being sold to build housing editions, huge apartment building complexes, yet more Wal-Marts and other chain businesses. Animals are being squeezed out of their natural habitats, no real countryside division of towns and cities- just concrete melding into concrete. Then we ship over stuff from other countries that we could grow here.

Just looked this up - last year, 86,000 H1-B visas were issued to foreigners. So let's say they can now get citizenship, they are married, have a few brothers or sisters and have two kids. Here's how chain migration works:

H1-B visa holder + spouse + two kids = 4 immigrants

Parents of both spouses = 4 immigrants

Brothers and sisters pf the H1B immigrants = 4 immigrants

Total: 12 * 86,000 = 1,032,000 potential new immigrants who will have permanent residency and allowed to work or obtain welfare with a pathway to citizenship each year.

A million new immigrants legally competing for jobs or getting welfare each year.

Speaking of Breitbart:

TRUMP SHOCK: ‘PATHWAY TO CITIZENSHIP’ COMING FOR MORE FOREIGNERS

Every year, more than 100,000 foreign workers are brought to the U.S. on the H-1B visa and allowed to stay for up to six years. There are about 650,000 H-1B visa foreign workers in the U.S. at any given moment. Americans are often laid off in the process and forced to train their foreign replacements, as highlighted by Breitbart News. More than 85,000 Americans a year potentially lose their jobs to foreign labor through the H-1B visa program.

In a tweet Friday morning, Trump reversed course on his “Buy American, Hire American” executive order, saying he wants to offer a pathway to U.S. citizenship to the hundreds of thousands of foreign workers living in the country on the H-1B visa.

Trump most recently told the media he wanted technology corporations to import and hire more H-1B foreign workers for coveted, high-paying white-collar jobs instead of those companies seeking American graduates in the tech fields.

“It is contradictory that Trump wants to raise wages for Americans and also bring in more workers who will cut salaries,” an American technology professional told Breitbart News’ Neil Munro. “It is political suicide … because the tech workers believed [in 2016] he was the only one who stood up for them.”

There is nothing wrong with legal immigration. Countless brilliant people in our society got here by immigration. We need intelligent people in this country no matter where they come from

The US population is 325 million people. How brainwashed can you be with propaganda to believe we do not have countless brilliant people already here. We have plenty of intelligent high skilled college grads and long time career IT people.

Anyone that proposes choosing people in foreign countries to Americans living here is a traitor.

Remember this?

Thread: Trump: I want to scrap all H1B visas

And now not only have H1B visas not been scrapped, but there will be a pathway to citizenship with potentially a million new immigrants per year in chain migration.
 Quoting: Sardonicus Landshark

We don't know what he's going to do. "Possible pathway to citizenship" is probably worse than what they have now, which is a guaranteed pathway to citizenship as long as they can find (or bribe) one employer to sponsor their green card.

My guess is he'll get rid of employer sponsorship but allow them to apply for O-1 visas. Look it up. You have to have unusual ability to get an O-1 visa -- so, a possible pathway to citizenship, will work for a few not most. I hope that's the new standard.

Breitbart is pretty iffy as a pro-Trump site, has driven a lot of the best readers and commenters away. Quality's gone down.
