Trump said he never claimed Mexico would pay for the wall. The media says he did. Who is telling the truth or is it somewhere in the middle?

I believe he did... but in the end all that matters is that a wall solves the problems it should and it will then save tax dollars for the American taxpayer.

Also, Mexico has taken some concessions lately with the US but I expect they did this because there will be more investment in Mexico in coming years.

Okay, Trump told the truth. He never said they would pay for it. He said "we would make them pay for the wall." That is a huge difference.

I often said during rallies, with little variation, that “Mexico will pay for the Wall.” We have just signed a great new Trade Deal with Mexico. It is Billions of Dollars a year better than the very bad NAFTA deal which it replaces. The difference pays for Wall many times over!

Of course he said Mexico would pay for the wall. He never said otherwise. What he did not say was that Mexico would cut a check for the wall. It would be stupid to think that they would. He's taking our savings in the USMCA as them paying indirectly. That's not too far-fetched. I think taxing remittances to Mexico would be a slam dunk. That would definitely pay for the wall and then some.

Exactly. There are plenty of ways to make Mexico pay that don't require them to pay willingly.

Have you read his book, art of the deal? He describes how he accomplishes a goal with many different angles of attack. He will accomplish the goal, but even he isn't exactly sure how.

Saving the resources spent on illegals and their crime, by stopping them at the wall, will pay for it...

He did say Mexico will pay for the wall but he didn't say exactly how they would pay for it, just that they would.

Obviously now with the new trade deal with Mexico they will pay with tariffs once the deal is okayed in Congress.

i remember many times them questions HOW they would pay, and he would say "there are many different ways with trade".

but they just either ignore that or have never actually listened to his interviews and only parrot media headlines .

I watched MANY of the TRUMP events and in some he clearly said ways in which that might happen.. he never said write a check. He mentioned thru trade and some other ways.
