So do we know how far into the solar system the heating has reached ? Assuming this is correct What happens when it encounters the sun? Last time I was aware they were saying the sun was at a solar minimum that was lasting longer than usual?....Is that so ? Perhaps it is a vital surge of energy to revitalise the sun? Of course, at a billion and a half light years a backyard telescope isn't going to see much, but there is one small, faint galaxy cataloged within about 2 arcminutes of those coordinates. That's well within the bounding box of where the source could be according to their detections. [link to simbad.u-strasbg.fr] There's not much info about it that I can find out there, and it may not be the galaxy this came from, but it does coincide with the coordinates of the detection. The structure of the pulse is rather interesting, they have data on it from a burst in September and from one in October. There are multiple sub-pulses within each pulse, each one is at a slightly lower frequency than the previous sub-pulse, all clustered together within the span of a few milliseconds. Would that register on Seti@home as a likely intelligent Signal? I reserve the right to declare my comments and posts as satire.
