Why kill the parents?

If this guy was stalking Jayme with intent to kidnap, why not do it by NOT breaking into the home and killing them, thereby creating a guaranteed multi-agency manhunt for yourself?

For heaven's sake, it's the school year. A million easier ways (sadly) to grab a kid in or near Gordon. It's a very safe (i.e. vulnerable) place even by Wisconsin standards.

I'm thinking there has to be a rage element regarding the parents (even if it was a simple as a stalker feeling he was being thwarted by them).

Maybe he thought he almost had Jayme convinced to meet up with him, but she kept saying "My parents won't let me out" or something - something that made this "careful planning" become anything but.
