Well, DUH! I said they were gushing with happiness that the sheriff's department were responsible for finding her. All the while, they KNEW she escaped. Come on now. That's ridiculous to report it that way!

Okay...this is what's posted on Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald's account on Facebook. If you weren't aware she escaped from her kidnapper, wouldn't you assume the sheriff found her? Just sayin'. We want to thank the Douglas Co Sheriff’s Department and agencies assisting them tonight. We also want to thank all the Law Enforcement agencies across the state and county that have assisted us in this case. We also could not have endured this case without the support of the public and I want to thank them for all the support and help. Finally we want to especially thank the family for their support and patience while this case was ongoing. We promised to bring Jayme home and tonight we get to fulfill that promise. The sheriff seems like a nice guy, and I'm sure they are elated, but it just sounds strange that they are taking credit. Well - the perp didn't turn himself in, eh? That's a curious part of the escape: If Jayme escaped on her own, why did the perp just sit around waiting to be arrested (did he, in fact?) There's something hinckey with all of this. I got that he had left the cabin/house in his car, Jayme was able to escape, she described his car to the police and they quickly found him in the area and pulled him over and arrested him.
