Have You Used Walmart Grocery Pickup?
I think it's unbelievable. You can take your time and fill the on-line cart over the course of weeks. It's very easy to search and modify.

When you're ready to order, you schedule a pick-up time, and pick-up the groceries. For me, as soon as I pulled in the designated parking space, the attendant came out and helped me load the groceries.

I was the only customer picking up at that time. The process at the store took less than five minutes. Since I ordered a large amount of groceries, there were several items out of stock. The attendant replaced those items with items of equal or greater value for the same price.

That order was 7 weeks ago, and I still have a nice stock of canned/dry goods. Because I was able to take my time and think about things, I was more careful in making selections. I was able to compare prices, and more often than normal, chose bulk items.

Since then I've gained 10 lbs, lol. I find myself eating more often because my pantry has been complete. Today I placed my second order. This time I chose healthier items. I like it because you can search for food by brand names. This is great because you can purchase items from companies you trust. For instance, you search for Applegate (one of the more ethical farms) and it lists all of the available products.

No lines
No crowds
No pushing buggies around
Take your time building a list (research web if needed)
Search Walmart's inventory
Free upgrades
Compare prices and brands
Purchase more bulk

I know I'm sounding like a shill for Walmart, but it truly was a revolutionary experience for me.

I tried Amazon delivery, but it's just awful. Their prices are horrendous. The selection sucks, and the website is impossible to use.

Walmart really does have some of the best prices, and with this service, you're able to compensate for some of their shady practices (by researching and selecting better brands). I was also thankful to have the opportunity to tip the employee.

I'm not sure what else competes. I'm sure there are similar services, but I'm betting Walmart has the edge at this point.

No doubt. This is actually a problem.

Packages draw attention to your house in general. When I lived in Atlanta I started using Amazon a lot, until a few of my packages went missing. Within weeks my house was vandalized with signs of attempted burglary. Thank God I don't live in the city any more, but I still don't want Ray Ray walking on my porch every day.

Re: Have You Used Walmart Grocery Pickup?
We have this thing called Superstore here, where I get my groceries, where such a service is offered, and more and more I see the clerks rushing around with their online-order carts collecting people's groceries.. Seems like this kind of deal is becoming more and more popular!

I once looked into using it myself, but had the issue of the products I needed in bulk only being available in small, more expensive packages, compared to the larger items in store. Ah well!

One of these days this will all be robots and little gulf-cart like vehicles bringing your stuff right to your door on a daily basis.

Yeah, I can definitely see something like happening. There's already things like that being tried out.

Maybe we can just raise corporate taxes and give everyone food stamps. I'm a libertarian, but it certainly seems like we're getting real close to having the entire process of growing, gathering, and distributing food completely automated.

When this happens it may be beneficial to allow a monopoly to perfect the system and nationalize it (or something similar).

You know, if instead of an office building for a rich wallstreet fatcat, we had a glass greenhouse office building or three, and we got some good urban farming going, this process could be greatly simplified.. Hmmm..

Seems great though. Willing to try it out.

Just think about it for a second. We have the technology TODAY to be able to completely automate our food supply. We could easily create farms, gardens, and green houses with robotic attendants. The food could be shipped directly to your house via AI driven trucks or drones.

We could have a website where you place your order, which begins the process.

With 3D printers and automated factories, we could expand from the food supply and automate small items and consumables too.

How much would this cost us? $10 trillion dollars? I think it could be done for that, at least for a ton of basic necessities.

We spend that much every 1/billionth of a second or something in the Middle east. /s

I don't think our civilization fully understands our current level of technology.

Re: Have You Used Walmart Grocery Pickup?
I have used this service about eight times. It is great! I like to shop at night when I can't sleep. The entire store is at my convenience while I snuggle down in my jammies. Then I choose a time slot to pick them up.

It is more than groceries...tooth brushes, outdoor thermometers, cat litter, duct tape, bandaids, mouthwash, a cake pan, copy paper, steaks, fresh rolls, anything on the store inventory and all in pictures! Even the frozen things are rock solid when they load them up. The personal shoppers as they are called pick out the nicest vegetables. The tomatoes I got were perfect.

No screaming kids, no getting clipped by some huge person on a tiny scooter who takes up most of the shopping isle while they check out the calorie count on that large package of Oreos. No looking for a parking spot. No walking around for an hour and standing in a check out behind some one with coupons.

The kids are running around, they all have dirty hands and snot running down their faces. The shopping carts are covered in God knows what! You are a fool to expose yourself to those contaminates. Sometimes the hand sanitizers are all used up.

I don't even get out of the car! I drive up, park in an area cordoned off just for the pick-up service. Then right in front of me is a large sign that tells me the number of my space and the number to dial to check in. Within about 4 minutes a nice person tows out a wagon with as many blue baskets as are needed...pops the back door...and carefully loads up the bags.

This is my new way to shop for sure. It is free! My usual orders run about $180.00

What the hell are you talking about? No one delivered anything. You place an order and pick them up at the store.

Also why would someone delivering something to your house make them all the sudden want to come back and rob you later? The amount of stupidity in this post is amazing.
