To ensure funding, all states will need to issue next month's benefits — a national total estimated at $5.1 billion — by an early deadline of Jan. 20, the department said.

Interesting. So different ways of translating the memo could mean some folks don’t get February if they are wrong.

Either way bring on the pain to Democrats. I want to see either apathy or riots. Both go to showing the decline in character.

A similar thing is happening here in the UK, and it's causing chaos, ours is called UNIVERSAL CREDIT.


They tried it out in small areas first ..........chaos

And they're going to go further even though it ain't working,

next month it's to 3 million people,

Technically didn’t we decide they want social breakdown.

Here in the US, there are plenty of nice places that won’t tolerate rebellion just because you spent food money.

And we don’t have universal credit - this is just food funding. We do have welfare of sorts but it is way more restrictive than most folks realize.

Exactly, this will absolutely be popcorn time come February. If you live in one of these states, make sure to keep a gun just as close as your popcorn.

I listened to a discussion about this on the radio yesterday. If I'm not mistaken, food stamps cost 4.8 billion per month and the reserve was around 4.2 billion. The numbers may be a bit off but I remember they had a bit less than a months worth in reserve and said payments would have to be cut.

If states had individual reserves, they didn't discuss it.

But it IS working. The depression people knew horrible things it bothered them to recall or talk about. My poor grandmother would be telling something along and just finish with "and that was too bad". My grandfather had a thing about kids eating because of what he saw in TN. Later I would learn that what he described was starvation sign when they are getting past recovery.
Sometimes he would say "them poor little fellers with thier belly all swole out" and he gave extra food to poor people now and then.
